As someone who was raised in Appalachia and now lives in the city, this video is both comforting and a little sad. Bittersweet would be the word I guess. I have a good job that provides well for my family, but I really long for those days in the country. I think it's a constant battle. People in the hills of West Virginia want to escape poverty and isolation, and people in the city want to escape the rat race. I go back every chance I get to remind my children of what our roots are. I was the first person in my family since coming to Appalachia in the 1700s to go to college. My ancestors worked hard so that generations down the line could live a more comfortable life and not toil on the land like they did. But the dichotomy is how we wish to be back to some of those simpler ways of life. I guess I can say I'm grateful I can afford to experience both when I want to. Mountaineers are always free.

Love to hear bluegrass music! This is a treat! Thank you
  • As someone who primarily is a metalhead, there is something that is soothing about instrumental bluegrass.

Wow! Just when I thought the Appalachian Mountains couldn't get any more breathtaking, this video proved me wrong! The fusion of bluegrass banjo and fiddle music with those stunning vistas is a match made in heaven. ๐ŸŽป๐Ÿ’™ Has anyone else been inspired to plan a trip here after watching this video?

A search for Stroh violin brought me here. An amazing instrument to say the least.

Come down from the Scotch Irish, transformed by the hills and hollows of Appalatia. A bright, playful harmony that stays true to the tune. Better than a cup of coffee (almost) in the morning.
  • I clicked because even though I was born and raised in NE Oregon, the Appalachian music somehow feels right no matter where you are.
