I bought a ford mustang II, and am about to try drive it 1,800 miles home from Arizona to Tennessee. This car is a 80s build drag car, and we recently tried to make it roadworthy. Strap in, this is going to be one big ride!

  • Derek, please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please spend every damn second you can with your boys because we lost our 33 year old son December 1st 2023 and I can't stop thinking about all the times I said no, I'm working or I'm busy. You have an amazing family and love watching your videos. Thank you so much for the smiles you have given me.

Just a boy and his dad having an adventure. Flew to LA with my dad and picked up a stepside chevy, left LA Midnight friday night, back home in Alabama monday morning so early the street lights were still on. Only stopped for food, fuel and 8 hours in a motel in a sketchy part of Albuquerque. Had a lot of good conversations and heard a lot of good stories from my dad, I drove about 95% of the trip. He's been gone 10 years now, miss him every day.
  • I listened to this video yesterday night with my old cat sitting on my lap and we fell asleep. I had to put him down today and this video will always be the last memory I have, thanks Derek.

Derek hearing you tell your son to switch sides so your along the highway and he’s along the fence is truly words of a man raised the right way. I do the same with my wife and my little guy. If only people still had the same ethics
  • This channel isn't about cars. This is everything else. Family, thoughts, life, and a lil bit of love. The cars are supporting actors.
  • Love how all 3 boys are getting involved with your recoveries now.
  • I was Born a Mechanic + am almost 70 now. DEREK Continues to AMAZE me with his Knowledge, Tricks, Friendship, etc. Thanks DEREK + FAMILY, I feel at HOME !

I’d like to suggest that if more people acted with the respect Derek has for others and his family instead of the name calling and open hostility to anyone that doesn’t share your opinion the United States would be far better off.
  • I know you probably hear it a thousand times a video... but man... some of us just didnt have the top tier Father that you are. A guy sometimes finds himself wiping washer fluid out of his eyes during those real wholesome moments in these videos. Even things as small as you moving him over to the inside of the sidewalk so you can walk near the highway... You are an amazing man sir...

So a fella was driving back to Georgia from a week in Kansas thinking the highlight of the trip was getting just a little lost in the Osage Reservation.... Thanks Garmin, but managed to make it to Ar-Kansas and who do I run across, A 1975 Mustang with two huge tires strapped to the roof between Ozark and Russellvile on I- four Zero, A big Honk and a wave.... I'll be dipped, made the whole trip!

Derek I just wanted to let you know that you’re the reason I’m a mechanic’s apprentice today, I just got done not too long ago with my first classic car repair on a 65 mustang replacing the transmission, along with some other things here and there. Ive been a long time fan since I was about 19 and I’m only 24 now but every time I thought about giving up on trying to become a mechanic after watching another video of yours it brought back what excited me about cars in the first place. You inspire millions, keep up the good work.

Derek, I am a retired Traffic cop from the UK and I thank you for your positive attitude to my colleagues. I should imagine that your demeanour does you a lot of favors when you do get pulled over and I wish that everyone I dealt with was as decent a guy as you are.

My favorite part is when your boy is laughing at the situation using the sunglasses as a mirror. I love your videos! I think its great that you get your boys involved with the adventures!
  • @randomgarage1
"I didn't know if i had to go pick up that light pole or not" after the fan in the mustang peeled out had me rolling!
  • All you kids are soooooo genuine! You have such a great family and channel. My whole family loves this better than regular TV and cable.
  • Great video! I retired in 2020. That summer my dad and I hooked his small enclosed trailer to his mint and pampered 2014 Escalade and headed from Bloomington, MN to his other home in Palm Desert, CA. He had a list of things he needed help doing there. Two weeks of good adventures and time together. Memories for a lifetime. After the trip he gave me the trailer and I bought the car when we found him an almost new Escalade. He passed in 2021. So glad we did that.
  • I've been watching VGG for a long time now, and I've always thought it was wild that the police hasn't stopped him with all of the dumpster fires he drives home. It's really respectable that you refuse to show these things on your channel. We're all just people. A lot of people seem to forget that.
  • I have two favorite parts...Bailey "warming" his hands by the fire on his phone, and your wonderful sense of humor. I lost count of the number of times i laughted at your commentary. Thank you.
  • 28 years ago I did a trip in a 1979 mustang pace car from CA Bay area to SC with my dad and those memories are burned into my brain. Great times many times we over heated we froze our butts off stopped at an army surplus store and got warmer dry clothes (sunroof leaked when it rained and while going though the snow over the mountains but I wouldn't trade those memories for anything. My dad passed away in 2016 and I've still got the car, it hasn't ran since we made that trip ended up with a crack in the block. Love to see anyone man/dad spending time with their kids. I try to always include one of my 2 daughters in anything that I do. When they grow up they will always have the times that they spent with their dad. Thanks for the GREAT VIDEO
  • Bailey has won my heart. What a great kid. Thank him for doing this for us. I know he doesn’t love the camera. ❤️
