Black is mostly known for it’s removal, discard, and draw power allowing it to function as a powerful midrange color, or its unique effects letting it help out combo decks. Of course, sometimes this doesn’t work out. Sometimes the cards are overcosted, sometimes the effects are just bad, but either way, none of these cards have ever been worth playing. Today, we’re going to look at the biggest misses black mages have ever had to put up with.

One With Nothing is one of the worst black cards, but it is also one of the best worst black cards because unlike other bad cards, you don't ever forget about it or completely dismiss it. How often do you see people talking about how Chimney Imp has a use when a new set drops?

"wight's social anxiety extends to inanimate objects and mere concepts" - dude, same

A friend and I once came up with a theoretical Weird Al Yankovic Secret Lair. We both wanted to reskin something as "Dare To Be Stupid". After a moment of thought, we both realized One With Nothing was a perfect fit.

"People will say no creature can be the worst because it can always chump block." I've never before felt so seen.

"Chimney Imp can barely trade with anything around its mana cost" Hey! Chimney Imp can trade with Bog Hoodlums if it loses the clash! That's a trade UP.

My man said "Chiminny" like Dick Van Dyke attempting a cockney accent.
  • “Regeneration is a niche form of protection that has since been phased out” So you are telling me it is going to phase in at the beggining ofthe next upkeep, got it

Blood Funnel actually sees a lot of play in Mishra, Artificer Prodigy EDH deck, where it's just pure upside. One with Nothing also has a funny and janky combo with Barren Glory and any instant that returns any number of permanents into your hand.

My grandpa said Aragorn is the worst black Magic card.
  • Ill just say... One With Nothing + Hive Mind, hilarious. In fact, anything with Hive Minds ends up in a clusterfuck of hilarity.

Is there a video on the best cards to use "Donate" with?

9:51 I want them to make a card actually called "bro beat" for when you beat your bros
  • @MABfan11
Danger!, Dark World, Tearlaments and the Ishizu cards would love One With Nothing

No TOMBFIRE? B for a sorcery that exiles all Flashback spells in a players graveyard is so niche, especially because Tormods crypt costs 0 mana and does the job better

I could see Blood Funnel being used along side stuff that make your spell not be countered. There have been a few black removal cards in the last few years that could benefit Blood Funnel. I don't think it would be a meta threat but could be interesting to try out. It could also be used against control decks by donating it to those players.

One With Nothing needs a partner card which says: "0 Mana: Until your next upkeep, whenever you cast a spell which only has the effect to "Discard your hand", draw X cards and gain X Mana where X is equal to the number of cards sent to the graveyard."
  • Your voice sounds like some youtuber named yugiohlog, are you two related by blood?

looks at hint of insanity Oh god, this is the counter card to my rat colony deck.
  • @Auriorium
I know there exists a deck that plays One with Nothing, but its a deck where you discard you hand, mill your library and exile your graveyard so you pass the turn with nothing in play, in your hand, in your library and your graveyard.

I think that with Hoodlums the design was to create a high mana value creature that can almost always win clashes. So they saw its cost like an upside, because this card should definitely cost around 3-4 mana, but not 6. However, this design is dumb. The same design was used for Scornful Egotist, there are some cards in his set that care about high mana value among your permanents, so you could cheat an expensive creature in play way below the curve for 4 mana.
