  • I have been using only a iPad Pro for nearly two years now and I absolutely love it. Text work, graphics, video editing and recording two weekly video podcasts.

This reminds me of when I started my degree at Uni… before my Mac I had a windows laptop, which was fine, because Uni is Microsoft base in Australia. But I still had my iPad mini 5 with pencil 1, which became my main device for study, because it was portable. With just that one device, I learnt how to do everything with it. Lessons, reading, note taking, brain storming, editing photographing images, video recording, video editing, making digital media, recording audio… all the things. I now have an iPad Air5 (with Magic Keyboard, pencil 2) and Mac Mini M1 (dual screens, because still used to Windows😂) but would still call my iPad my main device. It’s true - when you have that one device without all the noise… you truly have the scope to concentrate on it and learn all of its secrets and skills.

    V. interesting! My M1 11 inch iPad Pro is rapidly becoming my main computer. Love the portability but also love the external display support, so can't lose my widescreen display. You got me thinking about further simplifying my setup though 👍. Keep up the great work! Thank you 🙏

I love this video… Thank you for taking this personal moment and making this.
  • I love Freeform so much. Of all the Apple apps released that is the one I use the absolute most. I use it for work, personal, managing projects around the house, planning any reorganization at home. Such a fantastic tool.

I’m currently the head of my IT dept for a major global company, overseeing many business verticals, all using my iPad Pro - 1st year using the 11”, 2nd year on 12.9”). The iPad Pro with Apple Keyboard + Remote Desktop to Windows on Azure is literally the BEST setup merging my iphone with my workspace. With the USB-C extended display, Remote Desktop expands to my second monitor in full super wide angle display while I leverage the smaller iPad screen for other content. Copying and pasting between iOS & Windows is a breeze. Would be great to see someone do a video on just that setup alone 😊

I really liked this so I just subscribed. On my last business trip I took just my iPad 10. Since I always have to take my work laptop and all its other stuff it was really nice to have something light that covered all of my personal needs.

Writing a journal on iPad Pro and using touch for everything really makes the experience so much better compared to using it on a keyboard all day. For me at least. It's not a laptop. It's something better in more ways than not. Only thing holding this back is the full feature of desktop programs like Final Cut, Logic, PhotoShop, and all those other programs that existed on desktop since the early 2000's.

Thanks for sharing. I like minimalism. Blessings on your day.
  • That's my setup... With a ipad pro M2 12.9... the only problem is the battery which unfortunately sucks

I’ve been using iPads as a computer replacement for many years. My laptops just collect dust, while all my iPads are in constant use, my 2TB 12.9 iPad Pro is my main device. I sure hope the rumors are true regarding a 14” or 16” iPad Ultra.
  • Been there iPad only and couldn’t keep it because the lack of full feature apps. Need to use Google Suite for work and it’s extremely limited in a tablet. Now I use a MacBook and an iPad Mini as a companion device. It suited perfectly for my needs.

I'm going to attempt this today. However, I will be using an actual keyboard and mouse (gave my Magic Keyboard to my nephew for his first year at college). I'm a graphic and website designer, so without having full access to Photoshop, Illustrator and Developer mode I'm not quite sure how far I'll get with the design phase of my work. I believe I may have to save the bulk of my work using my MBP and use the ipad for admin work, note taking, brain dumps and idea generation. However, I am determined to use my iPad as much as I possibly can because it's only been used to watch movies. Thanks for another awesome video Chris.

Thanks for sharing… my iPad Pro is the most irreplaceable device in my setup!

I’ve been using my iPad Pro 11” 2018 .. but at the start was main for drawing .. i didn’t have a laptop so it was my only device.. since then my use case for my ipad has increased.. I use it for note taking during my lectures, doing assignments on the web based Microsoft 365 , good notes , taking notes during meetings, jotting down stuff in notion .. really love the workflow.. the only issue i have is running zoom and taking notes because of the limited screen space.. for e.g having a lecture run one side and taking notes on good notes on the other .. not sure if i get a 12.9 this would solve the issue .. or the new iPads extended desktop would be ideal by using an external portable monitor .. prefer the set up to be mobile
