Why I bought a Yamaha Wave Blaster 2? | Wave Blaster II | Ep2

Published 2022-06-19
So everyone keeps asking why I bought the Yamaha Wave Blaster II vs. the OG Blaster 1, and the honest answer to that question is, in the whole time I have been searching for a pristine find Blaster, I have never seen not only a Blaster 1 but also a Blaster II, so when this came up it was essentially fate, and felt that here in the UK, this was a once in a 5 year find, that would rarely come up again, if at all, in this condition...At which point the consideration of blaster 1 vs. II become irrelevant. I also lent towards the II as it’s considered more stable, which will make it more useable for both me and Megs’ riding days out...

  • I have a 96 WB 2 and my girl and I love to take it out together! Such a fun machine

I work at power sports dealer my boss told me not to buy old jet skis. That they are junk and break all the time. Parts are hard to find. And expensive to fix. However… I’m hard headed and love 90’s anything! And still probably cheaper than a newer 14 grand unit.

I have the same one that i bought about 8 years ago for only 2k, and it also looks like brandnew. In the winter i pressurewash the engine bay and cover everything with silicone spray so that nothing can corode, and plastics and rubbers won't harden and become brital. So with just this little maintenance you can keep them as new and running for at least another 30 years.

My friend and I learned how to ride a 94 Wave Blaster with two people. Now that is not an easy task.

Amazing what luck! I have never seen such a clean underside. The cloured hull skratch the easiest! I just bought what I though was an oem lanyard which ended up being a chinese copy. The red was more pale, the strap was thiner and it did not clip aswell. They are hard to find!

my wb2 loved iridium ngk plugs...ran so much cleaner with them and never fouled like copper ones though no wake zones...nice ski)
  • We have two X2s I just picked up a couple months ago. When you pull the seat off the X2 there's a sticker with instructions on how to get two riders on it. So a Blaster 2 shouldn't be that bad.

We have similar tastes in skis- I have a WB2 and a WaveRaider 1100 as well. We had some difficulty in getting two-up on the Raider, so I imagine the B2 would be more difficult. A more experienced passenger would help. Oh and I would guess this was about $3500 new???
  • I have a 1996 Yamaha waveblaster 2 and it's reliable...but of course i beat it up haha
