The A320 is already one of the most popular commercial aircraft of all time, not to mention, Airbus’s bestseller. But Airbus has just announced that it wants a replacement to the successful single-aisle aircraft within the next decade.

You heard that right, Airbus wants an A320 successor by the mid-2030s. And with all that’s being promised, it looks like every airline would want it too. Here’s Why.

A fine aeroplane, A320. If it's Boeing, im not going.

Boeing actually had the best single isle aircraft (757) and then stopped production, 😅😂🤣

The fact that both the A320/A321neo and 737 MAX are doing transatlantic flights is astonishing. This makes it interesting for lowcost carriers to offer even more destinations, also overseas.
  • With the -500 being a threat to its own A320, its just as well that Airbus bought the C series before Boeing caught on.

A middle of the market airplane is needed. Airbus is in the comfortable position to being able to make the A320 successor a bit bigger since they have the A220 for smaller planes with shorter range. This would be like the situation with 330 and 350 in the twin aisle market. One a bit smaller and for shorter distance, one bigger and fancier for more passengers and longer distance.
  • Airbus has the 'fuel' to think and develop an A320 successor. Boeing lacks the 'fuel' for a B737 successor.

We need a third aircraft manufacturer. Russia is out, China not yet here, Brasil does not look like one.

Why are the newest aircraft long and thin rather than short and wide?. Good video, thankyou.
