There’s something almost serene about season 1 SpongeBob. The muted colors, the moments of quiet, the ambiance, the more frequent use of ukulele music, the less exaggerated voice acting. It’s comforting honestly. It’s gets almost completely phased out by the time they fully transitioned to digital animation as opposed to cel.

IMO, nothing can hold a candle to Sweet Victory because it’s the greatest television moment of the 21st century. Watching SpongeBob and the bikini bottom residents perform in a football stadium in front of a live crowd is something we had never seen before. It was also the first time Squidward finally had a moment of triumph. Performing Sweet Victory was the perfect song for a perfect moment. Stephen Hillenburg was a genius! ❤
