  • This is like the perfect first intro to any kind of alternative music, just a little bit of everything mixed so perfectly
  • @SpareMango
If this album was called "Gorillaz - Demon Dice" then you would have given it a smiley ball
  • @reddisdead
this album is more beautiful than people give it credit for. sure its really dancy most of the time but demon days has got to be one of the most glorious closers of the 2000s for sure
  • @marauder_-
This really is the Gorillaz album that stands the test of time for me. Love Plastic Beach but this is the album that solidified me as a Gorillaz fan.
  • I feel like them doing such a wide variety of genres was pretty influential for 2010s artist who grew up listening to them.

Many people I know, including myself, look to this album as the album that got them "into music" and was the starting point for the development of their taste, and I will always love and appreciate it for that even if I don't listen to it as much as I used to

Easily top 5 of the 2000's for me, massively opened up my world for music as a kid. Dancey, funky, fun, beautiful, and everything in between. 10/10 album
  • @ereherats
I remember "fire coming out of a monkeys head" being like witnessing god when i found out you could narrate a story over instrumental. Plus it wasnt until a decade later that i figured it was MF DOOM on "November has come". I was driving and nearly swerved because i used to sing along not knowing who the rapper was at the time. Love Demon Days. I can see why plastic beach gets more love but demon days came out at a better time for me
  • Hands down one of my favorite albums of all time. The title track gets me every single time.
  • @CultureDTCTV
This album is literally my early teen years alongside Radiohead and LCD Soundsystem. I love every single track off of this
  • @SilliusSodus
DARE is one of the best dance tracks this century. I just love it.
  • @harleykf1
One thing I like about this album is how coherent it is. The transitions are done really well

My family was always into music, but what i listened to was my dad's classic rock or mom's funk. When i heard this album, though, my mind was blown. It was the first album that I considered MY music

This comment section <3 Gorillaz nowadays may not hit as hard in cultural impact, but at that time, it was all about the characters, and the most different Music a teenager could get at the radio and TV. This and Plastic Beach are another level. It’s funny to me how HUGE blur is in Uk, but never had the same impact worldwide, and when Damon Albarn Goes in the shadows, he conquers the world.

Honestly, gorillaz has 3 classics minimum. IMO their self titled is amazing, this album is god tier, and so is Plastic Beach. November has Come has to be my favorite song on here. DOOM's verses just go so hard over this weird yet somehow extremely catchy beat. God I love gorillaz
  • @livingcolorinc
Thanks Anthony for giving Danger Mouse his flowers and props! Quite possibly my favorite producer- from this album, to Gnarls Barkley- St Elsewhere and Odd Couple, Broken Bells with James Mercer of the Shins, A$AP Rocky- At Long Last A$AP, Cheat Codes with Black Thought, working with the Black Keys, just one of the best producers with such a distinct production sound and style! Edit: DANGER MOUSE IS ALSO HELPING PRODUCE THE NEW MGMT ALBUM….HOLY SHIT!! MY FAVORITE BAND WITH MY FAVORITE PRODUCER, AND DAVE FRIDMANN, AND ONEOHTRIX POINT NEVER!! MY GOD!
  • I notice people share a common experience with Demon Days. A lot of people expanded their interest in different genres after hearing this album. It has a lot of good stuff from different musical spaces. Electronic, hiphop, rock. It transcends genres for sure.

YES YES YES!! I'm so glad Fantano gave this a classic review, been waiting for this ever since i found this channel. No other media project has impacted me as much as Gorillaz -particularly because of this album-. Some of my favourite memories are related to this album, like learning to draw by imitating, and failing, to copy Jamie's art style, staying up late with a friend listening to this album, telling "Fire Coming Out of a Monkey's Head" in fron of my 7th grade class when we were told to narrate our favourite story. Beyond the nostalgia, it's a genuinely ambitious, immersive and atmospheric record while still being multifaceted and, somehow still relevant to this day. Some of the songs still sound ahead of its time, too. Incredibly record, probably my favourite album of all time.

Love the intro. I know a lot of people that are super into Gorillaz but don't know about Blur at all when to me that's a big part of Gorillaz's history so I'm happy you shed light onto how the project started and just how much happened to get here.
