Very elegant solution bravo ! I just made mine, a lot more prehistoric than yours lol with scrap wood, dc motor frim a drill, voltage variator/regulator and a magnetic counting device. Made my first pickup today with 7900t@43AWG, i'm so happy🤌😁

is hard to add a second moto for wire guide, for automatically moving left and right...? make it fully automatic , sounds quite a complicated to me, maybe you can make a upgrade in the future, great video anyway.

So basically I wouldn't need that much electronic and programming hassle, if I just use a basic bike odometer or some mechanical counter (if I can find one) instead of this digital display. Just build a wooden rack for it and use drill or even hand lever with 1:10 ratio. I might try that. Of course it's not fancy like this, but if I use it just 1 to 20 times in my life, I think it should be fine.

I think a pickup winder could also be made using an old computer hard drive based on this short video. HDD HACK - Make Grinder From Old Hard Drive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNJRehl6YpI Can obviously be made into a pickup winder, disk sander, etc. Some videos show wiring that may need to be done, as can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_zLUw5J62Q A guitar pot could be used to vary the speed by turning the voltage up and down, and a postage weight scale with a "Tare" function could be used to count the windings by "weight." Not perfect, but probably close enough, and perhaps even more precise, as you will know how much copper was used. You can also use the HD Magnets to hold the pickup bobbin in place while it winds, if you put some magnetic metal temporarily on the bobbin.

just an FYI the pickup winder model has the wheel on backwards
