I remember when I was a lad, I was waiting at the crossing before school for the train to pass, when one of my fellow classmates stole a kids backpack and threw it onto one of the empty flatbed trailers. The poor kid’s backpack ended up in Adelaide.

That is a long train. Never knew you had double stack containers in Australia. Love your train chase at the last part of the video. That train was motoring at some good speed after climbing that gradient. Awesome video.

Nice video - I just noticed the train was on the wrong side of the road! [rimshot] hyuk-hyuk! thanks for uploading
  • The stylized "R" herald on the nose of the locomotive is somewhat suggestive of that of the late, one time great, Rock Island Line here in the US - even though "The Rock" never came anywhere close to my part of the country in the Pacific Northwest; despite the inclusion of "Pacific" in its formal CRI&P operating name.
  • Ripper train ..... it's good to see the old ALF's getting around still hauling massive rakes like this. I think it's a shame one driving cab was blanked off years ago, they were great looking locomotives when they were built.

Long one, in Europe we don't have them so long. We have a concept called intermodal, where the whole trailer is onboarded onto the train car and taken to the nearest train station where a truck engine takes it over to the final destination.

A little education needed here: I noticed a passenger car at the front of the consist. Is that for crew rest on your long haul trains?
