  • After the whole ordeal with Toei, it’s really nice to see Mark making more content on One Piece and Dragon Ball. Glad he can talk about them without any problems
  • @ic7846
I still try to minimize wasting food to this day because of Sanji's backstory. This is also further expanded on in Otama's story later in the Wano arc. It is such a powerful message!
  • I swear every time Mark talks about Enies Lobby he omits the fact that that's where we first get really introduced to the concept of the Void Century, Poneglyphs, as well as Robin's whole flashback with Jaguar D. Saul & Kuzan. Robin's flashback is like half the reason people love both her & that arc so much not just the fights.

Jaya is unironically my favorite arc. It is one of the few arcs that is actually about Luffy. Usually Luffy is doing things for the sake of his friends or for stopping injustices. In this arc it was all about Luffy and I think to some extent Oda doing what they wanted to do. I see so much of Oda in these chapters. I truly believe that it was these chapters where the end game of One Piece truly began to come together. Everything that happens after this arc just feels different
  • @DjimonMoz
Very solid list. My only disagreement is Enies Lobby. Robin's declaration alone makes it God tier for me. I cry every single time I rewatch that scene, without exception.

If Thriller Bark was not a part of One Piece and a one shot series about a group of pirates going to a haunted island, it would be a cult classic and considered a masterpiece. The Brook backstory and the ridiculous amount of foreshadowing alone is worth an A class imo.
  • I started reading a week ago. The part in the Arlong Park where Luffy says "Let's go!" and it shows how close by they all already were and their faces ready to kick ass absolutely hooked me. I had literal chills from that panel.
  • @TheNinetailes
Skypia is legit my favourite because it's just so different and otherworldly, Noland and Kalgara's story is close to my heart too omg
  • @Raph___A
I think we can all agree that no matter which arc is your favorite, One Piece is one of the greatest stories to ever exist.
  • @TheShindomaru
It feels so good to hear Mark say "THE BIG CHAIR" again after everything that happened. I love how not a one Arc made it to D-Tier for Mark either. This is a good trip down the One Piece memory hole. Everyone should go back around and watch the reviews again.

32:56 I think the reason a lot of people didn't like the Dressrosa arc is because it went on for SO LONG while it was being actively released, where as binging it felt a lot more fun, as opposed to Wano where so many things were happening, that watching it weekly felt more exciting even though it was quite a bit longer lol
  • @qlitch
Whole cake is so slept on it’s honestly one of the best arcs in the series, top 3
  • Hey Mark idk if you’ll see this but watching those weekly One Piece arc reviews got me into the show/manga and I cannot thank you enough! Thank you for your content and sharing this work of art with me
  • @keposo7730
I still can´t believe Mark didn´t get spoiled Ace dying at Marineford. I can´t imagine a more popular anime spoiler than this one and escaping the internet is almost impossible while working on social media as him does.
  • @Cloud-dt6xb
I think your underselling Thriller Bark here, it has alot of strong things going for it. We get the intro to Brook and his horribly tragic backstory. Usopp get's a real cool chance to shine and show how much he's grown since rejoining the crew. The fight with oars is such a thrill ride and Kuma was a great foreshadowing of what's to come for Sabaody,

22:08 The One Piece Wiki may count the Post-Enies Lobby Arc as a separate story arc, and that might be based on some kind of fan consensus, but if you look at it in terms of story structure, it is obviously just the epilogue of the 120-chapter long Water 7/Enies Lobby Arc, just like Mark says. The shorter arcs leading up to Alabasta had very obvious beginnings and endings, but the transition from Water 7 to Enies Lobby (The Sea Train) is best viewed as a second act action sequence which keeps its steam (pun partially intened) well into the start of Enies Lobby, culminating in the climax of Act Two, the burning of the flag. I doubt Oda would consider these separate story arcs. As a sidenote, the only other gripe I have with the Fanon Story Arc division is that I think the Post-War/Grey Terminal Arc is clearly just the long epilogue of Marineford rather than an arc in it's own right. Otherwise I'd say it fairly accurately catches where one story ends and the next begins.
  • For me, Brook's story and character made Thriller Bark amazing. (So about an A Tier.) Also I love Usopp and Kaya's story and it's always fun to watch her reaction to Sogeking's bounty.
  • @ChaosHuntsman
I will make one argument for Drum Kingdom being befitting of the A tier or higher despite the rough orientation in the manga. This is the first time we see exactly how far Luffy will go for a friend. In prior fights he always went all out, of course, even nearly dying three separate times two of which he Smiled through, and he's always been a fearless character. But he refused to even fight back on the Chance his extra motion might hurt or kill Nami in her weakened state, something he's only ever done on one other occasion to date (with a completely different premise granted), climbed a mountain bare-handed, bleeding, frozen, and by the end barely conscious, on death's door facing his only chance of life when chopper investigates, and the only thing he can think to do is ask him to save his friends. Obvious over explanation is obvious, but I strongly consider this to be a paramount example of Luffy as a character, both for future plots and overall motivations.

This was so satisfying Mark. I felt that you truly are invested in One Piece, I agreed with 98% of the rankings! except for like 2. Great video and I can't wait to see more!
  • @MysteryBounty
I caught up to One Piece in dressrosa years ago, I remember going through impel down and Marineford in like 2 days and it was all one big gigantic amazing marathon 🤣
