THIS STORY:

Jennie Louise Hanson was born in Racine, Wisconsin. In 1912 she embarked on a trip to Denmark, accompanied by her husband, Claus Peter Hansen. On their return trip home, the two were accompanied by Henrik, the younger brother of Jennie’s husband. The three boarded the RMS Titanic for the fateful voyage to New York. Jennie had forbidding premonitions...
And it turned out that Jennie would be the only one who would make it home.

The poem that she wrote to her deceased husband 3 years after RMS Titanic sunk:

Just three years ago tonight
We were separated you and I
One last kiss, one last embrace
As we stood on that fatal ship
It came so unexpected
The shock still remaining
Although the tie that held us
Is broken beyond repair
No joy can take the deep heart ache
Our sad departure left
I do not know what pains you bore
I did not see you die
I only know your thoughts were of me
Bidding the last goodbye
Worthy of great respect was he
Say those he left behind
A better friend there could not be
A husband more true and kind
Oh perfect rest, oh calm repose
Where life's clear strength in beauty flows
We know that you are happy now
In the sunshine of the blessed
Where there is no pain or sorrow
But one sweet eternal rest
Let stars forget to shine, days sunless be
But never can I cease to think of thee

Your wife, Jennie L. Hanson

MUSIC:

The famous recording played in this episode; "Nearer My God To Thee", can be heard in countless similar renditions in memory of the RMS Titanic. This was the last song played by the ship's band. This recording in an anonymous contribution.

The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...

This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.

Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

  • Dear Ron, I am 99 yrs old. And I am related to the Astors and we heard stories from family members, and the man that found my cousin, he said they found thousands of dollars in his pocket. If you think about it, all that money didn't save anyone's life. I have forgotten alot now. But we heard stories of my cousin after he was found floating in the cold water. Thank you so much for remembering someone from that very sad time. God Bless you Lad!

I was able to visit Fairview cemetery in Nova Scotia where over 100 Titanic victims were buried. A beautiful place and so touching. People still leave toys and plush animals at a child’s grave.

The band that played until the bitter cold, freezing water until the absolutely bitter end is amazing. God bless everyone on the Titanic. It’s hard to believe it’s been over 100 years ago this happened. Just goes to show how fast time goes by.

I never tire hearing about the Titanic and it's survivors. PTSD is a powerful beast. Rest in Peace Jennie.
  • What a beautiful poem she wrote about him, how sad. Hope they are in heaven together forever. That was a wonderful episode Ron, you do tell them so well. Makes you feel like your there,
  • Ron, my love died in September 2020 from cancer. Every morning, I go to the cemetery to visit him. The Unsinkable Molly Brown is buried in the same cemetery and I pass her grave every day. She was a passenger on the Titanic and urged those in her lifeboat to go back to try to find more survivors. After having been rescued, she donated a lot of money to charity and did a lot of good in her life.
  • @aamlam
Ohhh! They are finally together now. No ocean can stop a reunion of hearts when we all go home.
  • @Laurie03
I can’t imagine how terrifying this was for all the passengers. I just hope all are at peace
  • This was a very nice contribution to the many who lost their lives to this terrible and unforgettable tragedy. I enjoyed the story of this particular couple and the special effects you added in so we could hear the eerie sounds of that night. Thanks for sharing this.

Ron, thank you for the tribute and memorial story. So many lives lost in the titanic disaster. Even after many many documentaries and history articles about the titanic. Your narration brings a bit of life to the tragedy. RIP all.
  • @jadesilk
Awesome video and story... so moving, so heartbreaking, yet so inspiring: a love that never died. RIP.
  • It will great to have you live in Arizona. Ron, it was sad for me to leave Illinois and move to Sun City West. I miss my visits to the many cemeteries where relatives & friends are. I miss the trees, the tranquility and the memories. Sun City West is about 35 miles from Carefree. There is a lot of history in Arizona cemeteries and a lot of them have a unique feel. Enjoy your videos and keep up the good work!
  • Beautiful segment as always. Thank you Ron, may they rest in peace together
