  • This is great! Very informative. But I want all mommas out there to know that you do what makes you comfortable! Please don’t compare yourself or your baby to someone else or their babies. Just because they start BLW at a certain age doesn’t mean you have to. You do what makes you comfortable! As long as baby is getting breastfed or formula they are getting their nutrition. YOU are doing an amazing job momma! Baby will learn as they grow. 💕💕💕don’t feel pressured to start before you are ready!
  • You might be interested in learning about intuitive eating! It really helps with feeling frustrated with meal refusal to see it as okay, for whatever reason they just aren’t as hungry as usual, or aren’t in the mood, etc. and your job of providing the meal is done, so no need to stress over if they eat it or not. It’s hard with a smaller baby (my son is around the same size as yours) but their bodies truly do know when they are hungry or not, and learning about intuitive eating really helped me to stress less about how much they actually consume and focus on providing the meal and cleaning up the uneaten food sometimes.

One thing that I would add that you touched on: it doesn't have to be all or nothing! I really wanted the benefits of baby led weaning but really didn't feel comfortable going all out. I never used purees, but instead, I would find food I could easily mash with a fork to keep some substance and texture. I would load a spoon for her so she could still get the benefit of self feeding. I did this until she got her pincher grasp so that I could cut up stuff into smaller pieces, but she could grab it then. That was a great scenario for us and so far she loves to eat and tries and loves basically anything!

I was just thinking last night how helpful your BLW videos have been, sharing not only what you feed baby but the meal prep, making more for future meals etc. So I will be taking advantage of the printable you've provided for sure. I too have been overwhelmed and frustrated w these same things and nice to know it's not just me. Thank you for sharing Solid Starts, I love how they show videos of different ages of babies eating the food you are looking for. So cool! 💕

I love how genuine you are in your videos! You’re so down to Earth and sweet. Keep it up, Mama and best of luck with the new babe ☺️ love your content!!

Food refusal is tough to handle for me too. Sometimes having to provide 2 or 3 food options/ back up is exhausting. Also when you are doing your best and quickly try to prepare the next option ( warm it up etc) and your baby flips because she is now so hungry because she threw down her food is so tiring.
  • so helpful thank you so much! I'm in the same boat. Been super scared of choking so I've been giving my baby purees for 16 months. I'm slowly switching her to BLW as I have to get her ready for daycare soon. this video gave me some courage.

What a great video Megan, and I enjoy watching your topics on parenting as well. So, this video came right in time for us, as our baby just turned 5 months old and I am starting to learn about the next big chapter of feeding - which is BLW. My husband and I have a different level of understanding on this topic, so I am trying to find more video contents to show him what it really is, and your video is very very helpful. Thank you for sharing a lot of your concerns when you got started, it's helping us to feel better about it, such as baby gagging, etc. Isn't it cool that without teeth, our bubs can still process this food? Oh! I heard amazing things about the Solid starts APP, very happy to have you mention it too. Greetings to you & your beautiful family.
  • @myracof
I watched a few youtube videos that showed what baby gagging looked like, so that when it was happening to my baby, I knew what was happening. Really helped.
  • @LornaKelso
Thanks for the solid starts recommendation!
  • This was VERY helpful and comforting. We've finally reached the 6 month milestone and baby is showing signs of readiness so I'm very excited.

Oh my gosh… I really needed to hear this today! Thank you so much for such an honest video ♥️ We have started blw about a month ago and it has been a JOURNEY…! I can definitely relate to a lot of things you mentioned…… I absolutely love Solid Starts too!! 😍 They also have some amazing paid content with recipes and other helpful stuff! Love your content and lovely personality :)) Take care!!

You make great informative videos, thank you. My babies (twins, b/g) are only 6 weeks old, but I know I want to do baby led weaning and so I appreciate the advice I find on your channel ❤
  • @moldovanca
I’m only two weeks in and I wish I had known about (and was prepared for) the amount of food loss. Right now he’s not actually swallowing anything so every time I put his food in front of him I have to mentally make peace with the fact that it’s going to end up half–chewed in the garbage. As someone who grew up impoverished it hurts my heart but that’s just the reality of teaching your little human how to eat.
  • @amybruner4819
Perfect timing on this! My baby is four and a half months old and I’ve recently started trying to research and think ahead before we begin our BLW journey, so this is really helpful. 🤍
