Hi, I'm Uyen Ninh but please just call me Uyen!
I moved from Vietnam to Germany 3 years ago for studying. I make silly videos about how Germany looks like through the eyes of a Vietnamese student - on my way to be your favourite Ausländer! :D

This is the first time I have seen one of your videos, I have only seen your shorts before. You’re such an interesting person and I love learning about your culture. I don’t know much about Vietnam but our family is also from Southeast Asia too so it’s really cool to learn about our neighbors 😊🙌🇻🇳

What a joy it is to see Uyen at home educating us on her countries traditions. She is a natural narrator and teacher, it's delightful to be shown things through her eyes whether in Germany or Vietnam . ✨️

I am from Greece but my parents always loved Asian food so they took me to my very first Vietnamese restaurant when I was 6 years old. I was a very picky eater as a kid but I finished my food for the first time! I'll never forget those flavors! That was back in the '80s where Asian restaurants were almost non existent yet in Greece. But there was this Greek sailor who travelled to Vietnam, fell in love and married a Vietnamese woman. So he came back with her and opened the first Vietnamese restaurant in Greece. He's really really rich now... I am 41 now and still crazy about your cuisine, traditions, culture and everyday life. So thank you so much for educating us on your Country, please never stop!
  • At the end of the video I understood why only your mother is allowed to wrap those cakes, she is a pro❤️

9:54 I love the child’s scream in the middle of a very relaxing cake making process there 😂 I’m from Indonesia but a child screaming and crying and their mom screaming back at them are something that I can definitely relate to when I’m visiting my grandma’s villag
  • Thank You for making a video about Tet in Vietnam. My husband is Vietnamese and we haven’t been able to go back to Vietnam for 2 years because we are waiting for citizenship and of course it’s expensive to go for a family of 4. This really made me happy because I miss Vietnam so much and our family there. I hope you can make more videos while you are there since it reminds me of when I was the happiest.❤
  • Just returned to U.S. from Vietnam (from wedding and Tet). Got to eat this and now I know how it is prepared! Please make many more videos because I have a new Vietnamese daughter-in-law! I love your perspective and explanations and like to learn more. (And I also got to experience the roosters in her hometown...) Thanks so much! :D

It's really interesting how different cultures with similar ecosystems have come to create similar foods. We make a version of this in Nicaragua bit with corn instead of rice. Both tropical countries but a world apart. Really interesting.
  • Her smile when she realized the corn was sweet brought a smile to my face 😊

if anyone is interested, lá dong (used for wrapping) is the leaves of phrynium placentarium and lá riềng (used as food colouring) is galangal leaves ☺

2:09 That flower is a lily in English ☺️ Your videos brim with humor, information, and spirit. Thank for all of the laughs, and I wish you a wonderful New Year!

I'm German ... honestly never saw something so heartwarming Peace to you and your family ❤
  • I am a Viet Kieu from the US. I was able to celebrate Tet this year in Saigon, which I will always remember and cherish. It's so wonderful to see how a Vietnamese family truly celebrates Tet. Thank you for highlighting the Vietnamese culture to the world. 🇻🇳

What a wonderful tradition! Thank you for sharing it. A Chung cake seems similar to a pasteles de masa, a Hispanic dish made around Christmas/new years season. So cool how many cultures came up with their own unique and strangely similar foods
  • I'm half Vietnamese and always eat those bánh chưng for Lunar New year, but I never knew how they were made. Thank you for sharing the preparation, it makes me appreciate them even more ! Chúc mừng năm mới 🧧

I just loved your expressions when you tried the corn and discovered it was your favorite kind. The joy and gratitude of feeling spoiled by the ones you love, nothing beats it. 💓
  • Xem video của chị làm em cũng phần nào bớt nhớ nhà nhớ tết, do năm nay là năm đầu tiên em phải ăn tết xa nhà ❤ cảm ơn chị thật nhiềuuu
