  • I love these videos... While I really enjoy all your videos... Breaking up the Big Bike Projects every now and then with this type of project is awesome...

Nice video Del & Penny. Excellent job mate , those aluminum rods are great for small repairs when you are not set up for aluminum welding. I saw them some years back and just had to have a pack. Penny and you have a great weekend and get in that sunshine, stay safe and take care. Cheers

I just invested in a new mapp gas torch and these aluminum rods look very cool. The results speak for themselves. No distortion, structurally sound and shiny too. Great tutorial and awesome R&D project. Love the clever set-up for leveling and avoiding the heatsink. Thanks and Blessings Del and Penny. ❤👍👍
  • I still envy your SNAP-ON disc wheel changes! I tried it for 40 days and 40 nights, and it never worked for me at all. Next time, I will try unplugging the grinder and releasing the trigger before I try that trick. Maybe it doesn't work on a moving target... If you get the chance, it would be cool to see the finished project after the engraver has a go at it... Enjoy your weekend, D&P :)

Neat trick my dad did this repair on my Suzuki ap 50 more than forty years ago when I dropped it brilliant stuff
  • Well done. Could save some money. But now it's ready for upcycling. Have a great weekend, Günter/Nürnberg

Hiya Penny and Del - great video! Nice work with those soldering rods and getting the case back to near-perfect. I'll have to get myself some of those... Take care, dear friends. Be well and ride safe.

Looks interesting - Kryten's dentist must love 'em . . . I'm now thinking back through the tea stained annals of bench bashing time, to various despondently binned parts that may have been saved. Dis am depressin' "You see dearest one, this is why we must keep all these parts, one day an easy cure for their various ailments will be readily available & they'll be worth thousands, you see . . . anyway, there's just enough room for a camp-bed up at that far end, so, how long does your mother want to stay for?" : )xx
  • @marcv338
I did my alumacraft with it , and it worked well.
  • Why did i get excited when you took the large tray of nuts and bolts out is beyond me but i did lol
  • @Johadart
Good job, I got some of these aluminium welding rods a while back and have been a bit hesitant to use them, just wondering do you need a special paste or flux of some sort to make them work? Other than that, great video mate 🤙🏼🇦🇺
  • @springy-2112
A fun experiment. Good result too! 👍✌️❤️
  • Fantastic repair that is defo going in my Del play list repair videos question could u leak test it ? Where u get there aluminium sticks from
  • @tinks43
Good to know! Look forward to the finished article 👍🏻
  • @bozly209
Nice. I have one question. If thiswas in a more structural area with more forces being applied like a bolt hole, would this be an appropriate repair or would it need to be tigged? Thank you sir.
  • Well done, amazing results. What type of material is the cover? Wouldn't need flux to bond? Nice videos showing. Good results. Can see the spot but who gonna know?? Lol
  • @allenhuling598
Enjoyed this and a great result! My first thought would have been to place it face down on some 'softish' rubber and then come at it a bit with a ball-peen hammer from the back before melting the rod into the wrinkles on the front. Regardless, it came out great! Do you know if those aluminum rods are typically, readily available at a metal shop? Have a great weekend...get some riding in!!
  • @MHLivestreams
I dare say it should be reused on another Harley. 💯
