In #california the #snow has piled up sometimes reaching the powerlines. The #snowfall from repeated #winter #storm has been near the record amount for December-January producing snow cuts higher than heavy machinery and well above the first story of homes. Shot locations include Soda Springs, Norden, Serene Lake and #DonnerPass in the Sierra near I-80 in California. Heavy #snow and #snowstorm is common #weather for the mountains, this season has been off to a record start which should help the state suffering from a mega drought.

Thanks to ‪@JonathanPetramala‬ for putting up with me. Please see his channel for stories along the way.

Take away the plowed roads and you can imagine how terrifying it must have been for the Donner party. Great video!
  • I lived up in Serene Lakes above Soda Springs 82-83 and yes you always had to remember which hole to turn down.

It would be so cool to see the route you drove in the summertime. Maybe you could put this vid and a summer vid side by side to show exactly how much snow there is up there. Fantastic views, with the snow so pure white. Thanks for the fun video!

We need this to happen every winter. It used to have these depths more often.

Lovely 🤩❄❄ We are having a lot of snow too here in Norway.

I can’t wait to see the reservoirs come summertime. Thanks for sharing.

This is just the video I was hoping to find. Thank you! I’m in Truckee without an AWD vehicle. Hoping to be able to drive in four days but I’ve enjoyed watching each flake. This glorious gift will help alleviate fires. Yay! Joanie 🐻
  • Nothing on Earth could compel me to live in a place like that. Driving over Donner in a storm like that at 76,000lbs was enough to convince me to stay South.
  • It amazes me how any of the wildlife make it through winters like this! Have a heart and put dogfood out and suet and such for the birds. ... You will be blessed in your struggles!

Never ceases to amaze the power of mother nature.

Thanks for allowing me to experience that without the stress of actually experiencing that 😂

I've would gladly see so much snow in Poland... As of late we have almost none in winter.. Keep warm, stay safe and build awesome snowman!
  • My wife grew up at south lake tahoe, back in the 60s,70s every winter was like this. School was canceled for weeks and no power either.
  • So awesome - that first 5 minutes is my road/driveway! We hike another 400 yards from our parking spot (visible at 4:24) to our cabin which my parents built 60 years ago when I was a baby. Glad to see it as we've not been able to get up there from our Truckee since before all the storms began. The 8-10 households along that road pay $1200 each per winter to keep that road plowed!
  • My family has a cabin right there in Soda Springs, went there all the time as a kid they always got a lot of snow but never this much! I could just imagine the skiing!!!

Just INCREDIBLE...Thank you! I LOVE THIS 💖💖💖💫 Down in Reno...4000 ft below looks like late spring 20 years ago. Just enough to well , remind me to be grateful 😁
  • I remember driving through that kind of scene about 20 years ago, up near Lake Sabrina and June Lakes loop...on Father's Day! Late winter that year, we were in shorts and sandals, trying to get from Bishop up and over to the west side. Wound up going all the way to Topaz lake-? All the other roads had all closed within the previous 2 days. Fun fun fun!
