“It all went mad so fast for me. I had a period of maybe five or six years of incredible fame and recognizability,” Farrell told Grant.”I’m glad that period of madness is over for me and my life.”
He added, “Social media I don’t have, and I feel very outside of it.”
Grant replied, “I’m in the same kind of boat. I’m more left alone which I was, which is absolutely delightful.”
The interview will air in its entirety on Variety’s “Actors on Actors” Season 5, presented by The Venetian Las Vegas, which debuts on PBS SoCal on Jan. 3.

So in 5 minutes I've learnt Colin Farrell is way smarter and articulate than I assumed he would be, and Hugh Grant is massively down to earth.
-
"We, actors, are in slight danger of disappearing up our own asses" In one phrase, Hugh Grant became the most down to earth Hollywood star of all time.
-
You watch Collin Farrell in "In Bruges" and "The Gentleman" and you can't imagine he can speak so eloquently.
-
Colin is so much better as an actor now than he was during that “period of madness” when he was involved in the Hollywood scene. His past 3 or 4 films including smaller roles have been marvelous.
-
'Here's a penetrating question' 'Oh oh feel like I should cross my legs tighter' OMG COLIN !
-
Had no idea Colin Farrell was so articulate. His reputation definitely negatively precedes him. I found him really fascinating in this.

Colin Farrell gave an amazing performance in True Detective! It's a shame people dismissed that season so harshly.
-
Listen. This intelligence and wry brilliance is why Hugh Grant's acting has survived. 😆 "In danger of disappearing up our own asses" 😆🤣

In Bruges is one of my favorite films of all time. Played masterfully by all three gentleman
-
Colin really shines in smaller indie films. In Brugges, The Lobster and The Killing of a Sacred Deer are outstanding.
-
I could never get tired of listening to Colin Farrell.
-
I think Colin Farrell is one of the most underrated actors. He is hilarious
-
These two together was actually a really good choice.
-
Hugh Grant basically says that lots of actors are so full of shit and very pretentious. He is so right about that.
-
I hung out with Collin in Austin at The Continental maybe 15 years ago. He was an absolute class act.

Watching this after watching “The Gentlemen’” with those two, they stole the show and have been incredible, that movie combined a great story, entertainment and depth in their characters, basically all they wished for in this interview.
-
Colin is smart, self aware and down to earth and Hugh doesn't take himself or fame to seriously, seems content which is both cool.
-
Wow, they are speaking like human beings. Doesn't feel like bullshit
