Happy Sugar Life || Cake (AMV)

Okay this anime is insane in a good way. But before I give my basic review and opinion on this show I'd like to say that i could of done more to this AMV but i didnt, i had to stop myself from going overboard and ruining it (ive been playing with premiere pro effects but im not confident with them yet). I have been working on this AMV on and off since i watched with a couple friends on Valentines Day. I finished it yesterday after spending nearly 10 hours cutting episodes and basically doing my whole process. Took way longer than i was expecting especially since i had done about 45-50%of it already by then. Some part might feel different to others since from when i started till yesterday i had joined a few MEPs and Collabs so some parts of this AMV might be fast-paced or something blah blah cant think of better way to explain it lol i guess i couldn't fully change my editing style from shorter vids to longer vids causing me to put more into shorter time-slots in you get me. [SPOILERS (I talk about alot of key events and scenes)] Okay lets talk about the anime, i love the Jar metaphor in this show. The MC Satou had an empty Jar and was looking for someone to fill it with love (symbolized with sweets). her love interest Shio had alot of love to give but her mothers jar was broken and Shio was abandoned but she was found by satou and noticed the empty Jar so basically a girl who was empty and wanted to find love met a girl who had so much love and basically enter this weird relationship (Satou is 14-15 and Shio is 8) to be honest when i first saw this i was like kinda wrong aint it but at the same time Satou never experienced any love so her love was constantly changing and was never defined as sexual attraction she simply saw shio as her happiness and angel. Satou's aunt also had a Jar metaphor attached to her character, her love was indiscriminate she accepted all love and i mean all love from getting beaten to doing the beating from boys to girl basically you name she accepts it, her Jar as she says in the show (gonna paraphrase here) she accepts all desires and when her jars runs out of sweets she simply finds more to fill it up. There is another character who is obsessed with Shio and thats Taiyo he first starts off in the show completely sane but then got assaulted by an adult women for a week or so and basically it traumatized him to the point of girls his age and older making him physically sick if they make physical contact. With this show though it makes things 100% more insane. Taiyo to make himself feel less dirty and regain his stolen innocence looked at children since they are the definition of innocence. He had no impure intentions but the show just made him look like a pedophile although later it reaches that point after being assaulted again. The most he asks from shio is for her to headpat him he does have a moment where you're not sure if he wants to go further but in the anime its implied he would of gone down the wrong path. He has a justified reason for looking towards younger people to remind him of his innocence but Happy Sugar life just made him a broken madman and Satou even pushed him down the path of wrong just as he was about to try and overcome his trauma and she basically just stopped him from finally becoming a better person. I really not sure how i feel about him i hoping to read the manga soon so what i said is purely my opinion and interpretation of his character i dont condone what he thinks or says cause he kinda say really weird shit. Okay time to talk about the best characters in my opinion Asahi and Shouko. Asahi is the older brother of Shio and was looking for his missing sister. his life was hell he had an abusive dad but managed to get his mom and shio out but stayed behind and received the punishment of beatings and getting his nails ripped out. His dad died and he basically lived on streets while looking for shio who his mother abandoned. But he met the sanest yet kinda dumb Shouko while Asahi wasn't quite sane he was much saner then Taiyo or Satou basically every other character is much more insane then him. but the sanest character is Shouko. She and Asahi a great and they comfort each other in the insane world they are in. Episode 9 was such a great episode since me and my friends were rooting for them since the other characters arent exactly our favorites and then the kiss we had to rewatch it cause our screams of happiness and our dancing made us miss a few moments lol it was such a great moment. but of course in the sane episode that happened its in my AMV but that basically go us angry at Satou but after re-watching the show it kinda was shoukos kinda dumb personality at fault but she did help asahi find Shio in the end. Asahi never finds out about what happened to Shouko and thought she was ignoring him but when he sees her in the fire oh i felt that so much that hurt me and made me tear up a little cause i was invested in Asahi and Shouko simply cause they were the most normal in the world (obviously i love satou as well but she aint no Yuno Gasai). I know i basically spoiled the whole show and there are two characters i could rant about (Yuri Co-worker and Teacher) but meh you see them in the AMV. One of the selling points of this anime for me to get me to watch it was a single voice actress "Kana Hanazawa" she is my favourite Japanese voice actress i loved her role in "Monogatari" (Nadeko Sengoku), "Deadman Wonderland" (Shiro) and "Tokyo Ghoul" (Rize) obviously i enjoyed other work shes in like parasyte and i love her openings. I love her voice on creepy dark characters her work in Monogatari is what made me love her work. So yeah that was one of the reasons for me watching the show another was my friends wanted to watch it so i went over to their house and we binged it all in one sitting which is how i spent my Valentines day (btw my friends are girls/twins so it was kinda funny in a weird way).
