M3 MacBook Air One Month Later - DON'T Listen To The Reviewers!

There's a problem with MacBook Air Reviews... most reviews focus on what it doesn't have rather than what it has, and the experience of using this laptop is something that most reviewers don't focus on in favor of talking about how fast it performs in benchmarks, and while that information is useful, it's not useful for those looking for a solid laptop with a great design, good specs, and battery life to spare. It's why I don't think you should listen to most MacBook Air reviews... maybe even mine.

Tech YouTubers need to stop talking about video editing capabilities, VERY few people actually do this.
  • Thankyou! I am 67, have an Acer laptop that’s close to death and have used my iPad Air 4 for the past 5 years. I’m now in school again and dreaming in my new life and the iPad just isn’t enough. This was most helpful to me. You’re savvy AND creative, funny and you relate to people exceptionally well. Best for me of all the Mac reviews out there. I’m sold!😄👏💟🕉️

Finally a sensible take on the MacBook Air where you don’t overload the laptop and complain that it heats up and throttles. None of those benchmarks and nit picking matters in the real world for most people. Kudos to you Greg, for this practical review of this superb machine.
  • I just ordered my second MacBook Air, the M3. My M1 is still extremely fast and capable, but it's 4 years old now and wanted to update. I'm getting the M3 with 16GB Memory, and 1TB SSD. I am a graphic designer and use Adobe software. I had to use Windows for a job I once had. I don't think I ever did understand that insanity. I was always having to call IT! Then, for a job interview, I sat down at an old Mac IIci to design an ad. I had never used a Mac in my life! I sat down, scanned the logo, did some creative tweaking and designed the add to perfection! I was hired on the spot! I have never used anything but Apple products since! If you have no experience with a Mac, you couldn't possibly understand why Mac users are completely in love with Apple!

Love my M3 15 inch mac air. It really does everything I need it to do. Piano music, travel and home viewing and use. Great video Greg!

This is a great review! Finally someone did a review that just talks about performance benchmarks and instead focuses on what the real usage for this particular product will be and its market target. And by the way, awesome Metal Gear Solid shirt!
  • I had the metal MacBook Pro from 2009 and it lasted damn near a decade. Very little slowdown near the end of its life. I switched to a windows gaming pc from 2019 on, but yearned for Mac OS, rather than just having iOS.  I just replaced my 2020 iPad Pro today with a MacBook Air M3 and couldn't be happier to delve back into Mac OS, as if I never left.
  • that outro talk was the best.. having something that resonates with you ! Gold.

Thank you for finally doing a review for those of us who aren’t editors, coders, etc. I have an M2 Pro for heavy school / teaching / presentation building.

Great video. Feels different to usual and all the better for it. I have been getting fed up with YouTubers being so disconnected from reality when banging on about the specs. If I said to my family members that have 8GB machines “oh no, you have the base model, how unfortunate” they’d be like: ‘what the heck are you on about?’
  • Greg I just wanna say, fantastic video man keep up the great work 👍🏻
  • Thanks for the review Greg, the Air, M1, M2, M3 are so powerful they are all amazing, Nice very creepy zoom in on you thinking of what to write next by the way, I can see you have another career beckoning. I use Adobe Illustrator most, then a bit of Photoshop and I'm trying to learn Blender and my current Mac, a 2017 iMac i5 21" (OS now on an external SSD which tripled it's speed) is actually good enough for almost all my tasks so these much much newer machines, even though they are considered at the low end must be perfect for the majority of users. Something we could only dream about just a few short years ago. I'm pretty sure now, I'm going for an M3 Air soon, with extra ram and disk space. Cheers.

Watching this on my M3 Max MacBook Pro (14") - grinning. :)
  • Great to see a real life review done by someone with a head screwed on. I’ve purchased a base model M3 MBA a month ago, swapped from a touchbar intel MBP and I am very happy with it. I spoke to an Apple advisor before I got one and they recommended the base model based on my needs. I was actually surprised that they didn’t try to sell me a more expensive model. It’s so much crispier and faster than my old MBP, an absolute pleasure to use for my daily tasks and uni work.
  • I have a MacBook Pro M3 for video editing. I also have the base Air M3 for use on the road. I can tell you it can handle a pretty heavy 4K Premiere Pro project. It's amazing. Way better than my old I7 laptop with 16GB of memory.

Thank you for this approach to tech reviews for the everyday consumer!

Greg, thank you for putting on this video. I totally agree with you. I use my mac like normal people. Yes, I do some powerpoint slide presentations, save photos, and work on documents and spreadsheets. Occassionally I watch youtube videos "Yours" and also listen to lots of music and podcast. I even still use my 2012 Macbook pro with the open core legacy patcher and it works fine for me. Again, Thank You for this video, I enjoyed watching it. Dave from Fulton, IL
