I was a teacher in Oakland California and since retired . From teaching Kindergarten we would salute and the flag first thing in the morning schedule I explained to students the reason why we’re saluting to our flag “It is because there are a lot people that died for this flag And the and there’s a lot of people that pay for your education and it is important we have respect and for all the things that stand for our flag. Patriotism needs to be supported in a child’s educational journey.

In Texas it’s law that we say the pledge to the American flag and to the flag of Texas everyday as well as a moment of silence EVERYDAY
