Although he never released it to the public, Topher Grace is typically credited with starting the trend of re-cutting the Star Wars prequels into one movie. His fan edit suggested that somewhere in between the bloated films, there’s a good movie.

A few fan edits were made in the spirit of Topher Grace’s cut, but none of them fully satisfied me. They went on too long or the quality of the editing wasn’t strong enough. They also cut too much out of Episode 1. I decided to do one myself.

After working for a few months with friends to help and give me notes, I’ve created a fan edit that I think satisfies. It sticks to the story of Anakin’s descent into the dark side, his relationship with his mother, his thirst for glory, and his somewhat unhealthy relationship with Padmé.

Wow so, this was kicked off Youtube for a few years and then magically reappeared a few weeks ago. Thank you Disney? I'm so happy to see so many people enjoying it. When me and my good friend Paul Odgren made this together back in 2015, we thought it'd get like 514 views. It's been amazing to see the response over the years. Thank you all for watching. ❤

This is the best Unofficial Star Wars Release in the world. The truth is I saw this years ago and was finally able to like the prequels, so much so that here I am Jan 2024, and loving it!!!

Hats of to who ever reedited this. It’s hands down the best. I likely will never watch the prequels again after this. Great, great, great job. ❤❤❤

I love all the Star Wars trilogies. This one makes Anakin’s story closer to his feelings for Padme, and shows it a bit more time emotionally. Thank you for sharing this. I Enjoyed it. 👍❤️

Best on YT, just got done watching this. It really showcases all the good points, omits the fluff, gets rid of all the bad stuff, bye bye Jar Jar, this just makes this so kuch better. The Trilogy works as a single film here. The prequels are saved. This is what I would show others that never seen the movies.

Wow my friend, great work and thank you for taking the time to do this.
  • Really smooth and well done. I'd say this is the best fanedit I've seen. Really captures the Anakin story as needed and keeps the whole thing streamline. I appreciate the care you took in making the transitions seamless. Especially the audio. Thank you. I consider this a suitable replacement for the original prequel trilogy.

Without the dialogue between Padme and Anakin in the "romantic" scenes.......how is the audience supposed to know that Anakin hates sand??? And the reasons why he hates it.

Never thought the prequels could become watchable. This edit changed that.

Oh thank you for sharing this with us. Very nice of you!
  • WOW. This edit should be the standard way to view the prequels. THANK YOU for this fan edit. Much appreciated! It really highlights the core of what makes the prequels great!
  • You did an amazing job with this! Thank you for sharing your work. You know, if hard core StarWars fans would help make the StarWars films or had some say in the productions, the movies would be so much the better I think. Great job Sir!!!!😀😀

Thank you, so glad all the bloat was removed but the edit is still smooth and cohesive. Excellent Job!

Decent edit. It made Anakin and Palpatine's relationship make a little more sense, and emphasized Anakin's concern for Padme. A bit action-heavy for me. I would have omitted the ending where we see Padme giving birth and naming the twins. It would have been more surprising in the original trilogy to find out that not only is Anakin alive, but his children also survived. We also could have assumed Leia grew up with Padma for a time, which would have made her line about remembering her mother in Return of the Jedi make sense. That said...when all you've got is lemons, it's hard to make anything more than lemonade. Anakin and Obi-wan's dialogue in Revenge of the Sith is still painful. Anakin's inane reason for turning to the Dark Side and his apparent stupidity are still there. Still would love to see the Topher Grace edit. 😎

  • Thank you SOOOOOO much for editing out Jar Jar Binks & the Gungins!!! That alone was worth watching it!!!

So this is how a new era of Star Wars began, with the birth of the twins. Thank you so much for posting. 🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍
