Unusual weather system bringing the tropical Monsoon rains into central Australia. The normally dry desert rivers are flooding and communities throughout the outback are isolated due to the bush roads flooded out and railway lines destroyed. 02 02 2022

Wish I was there, nothing beats the smell of rain on dry soil.

Wow looks like a fairly good gully washer going there. Not the first time this summer. If this keeps up the district is going to turn into an oasis.

Not a good day to go boating, much less driving. Need some stadium-sized cisterns to save that up for the dry season! The couple on the pedestrian-bridge just standing there, watching the flow under their umbrellas, one wonders what their moods and thoughts are in that moment. Around a meter deep in some spots and likely deeper in others, and no less dangerous in the shallow spots given its speed. Hard to tell how fast it's going, is it staying under the speed-limit? 7:29 Ah, a little whirlpool at the top-right corner of the screen, panning away left. Attempts at dry humor aside, do stay safe down there and hopefully there will be few casualties while this persists!

I just googled the Todd River, Alice Springs. Seems like a nice place.
  • Todd is a not so common first name in the USA, weird to see a river named that 😆 Flooding sucks, wish you guys the best

I've never seen any water at all in the Todd river. I visited Alice Springs in 2002 and 2004

That is a lot of water and at very high speed. Any snakes caught in the flow ?
