very very very good detail review on Apple Freeform for productivity and for starting from scratch ! Thank you!

Thanks for this detailed review! Let's hope iOS 17 at least introduces folders in Freeform. 😅 For me, the big feature that sets this app apart from Notes or Pages/Numbers is the infinite canvas. It's amazing to know there's always more room to grow outward in any direction from your existing work. Numbers has an infinite canvas too, but it can only grow to the right and down. Have an amazing day!

Was looking for your take on this since its release. Superb! Looks like missed opportunity. Will rely on Keynote which would benefit with some of the Freeform features. Oh well .. half baked, I di share the same sentiment.

I would love to replace notability with freeform in the future. However, as of now it's still lacking to many features. I do like that they didn't include in into Apple Notes, though. It's a different use case.

learned a lot from your comments even tho all negative. just starting with a whiteboard type app. very helpful in organizing me YouTube collection of vids. I take screen shots of 5 or 6 YT then move the screen shot to a board, and highlight the stuff I want to focus on first, like my woodworking projects. My main confusion at this point is finding stuff. It may be tiny, almost invisible to see a new text box and it could apparently be anywhere on the board, like buried in another paragraph of text somewhere. But I like it and having fun with it. Never tried doing the same kind of thing in a note. So maybe your point that its the same functionality as a Note is valid. I'll try it. But for now, I can't imagine you couldn't find anything positive to say about the app for newcomers like me who don't know any better. I would like to know more about mind mapping, and whether there are other apps better at that, but I dont really want to go out of the Apple apps built in to the ooperating system, so would Pages and Notes therefore be the only things to check out for mind mapping?

i would love to see your current "best practice" for your daily workflow. I am just entering the game of taking notes on the iPad. Between Notes, GoodNotes, Notability and even Obsidian. Also sometimes I have PPT's or PDF's to work with but still want to take notes on the site. I will continue to watch your videos but one like this would be especially interesting to me. Also simetimes I create things on the iPad or PC (shopping list) but want to cross it off on the iPhone. Currently I do this with taking a photo of the pc monitor and then manually cross that with the pencil :D

I haven’t used either much, but how does Freeform compare with the MS whiteboard app?
  • @membeli999
After trying Freeform, I took a year's subscription to Muse. Muse is quite expensive, but it is a delight to use, compared with Freeform.
  • @GuruGovindMahesh
The collaboration feature doesn’t work some verification issue persists. If u can render a solution do help.

Why is there no way to Organize your Boards in Folders? And I agere the Pencils are very bad! Very disappointed - was hoping to use it instead of Onenote :(
  • @MaiElizabeth
The reason I don't use Freeform is because it doesn't allow us to change the board colour and the lack and weird choice of pen/brush.

Suggestion : Work on your voice to avoid this "breathy" voice
