The Incredible Hunt For The Police Officer Turned Mass Murderer | Nazi Hunters | Timeline

Published 2021-10-31
A fervent believer in Hitler’s theories on race and Aryan superiority, Franz Stangl is an Austrian career policeman who joins the Nazi party and works his way up the ranks. Proving to have a knack for mass murder, he eventually finds himself in charge of three Polish extermination camps where he is responsible for the genocide of 800,000 people. Following a well worn ‘ratline’, Stangl escapes to Brazil after the war where for nearly two decades he leads a comfortable existence in exile.

  • @Cobra83.
I could watch these all day and night, I'm absolutely obsessed with ww2 history
  • Simon Wiesenthal was an absolute TITAN among mere mortals. His intellect, his ability to maintain his full humanity while simultaneously refusing to forget what he saw and experienced at the hands of the Nazis, including 4 concentration camps and a death march to Chemnitz, Buchenwald. People need to read his books, which are short but emotionally searing, and we need to never forget him or his superhuman strength as an Avenger.
  • From both sides of the spectrum this shows how seemingly ordinary people can do extraordinary things. But only Wiesenthal is worth spending time learning about. His courage was truly heroic

As a Catholic (non-practising) I am amazed that the Catholic church got away with aiding these scum through their "rat lines." To my knowledge no-one has ever had to answer for this despicable practice.
  • Thank you for this. I have never heard of this before. R.I.P..Simon Wiesenthal..and thank you for every thing you did
  • @pjuggle
Simon Wiesenthal was probably the one of the strongest and most courageous men in human history. Without his perseverance there would have been less justice.
  • Those monsters didn't have much courage when their own lives where on the line. Bless people like Wiesenthal who devoted his life to bringing them to justice

The fact that vagner was so terrified that he attempted suicide multiple times gives me a great satisfaction
  • I took note of Wagner's smirking when he was being confronted by this man who was one of his few surviving victims. I think the sadistic maniac could not contain his pleasure, reliving in this moment the memory of his cruelty.

I’m so saddened that the world wasn’t looking for these monsters. Monster is too nice a word, but there isn’t a word that belittles them enough that would satisfy. Thank you Simon, you are a wonderful human, thank you
  • @jamesblood6799
Simon is a hero to justice to all the people the Nazis murdered and the survivors, he never gave up in his quest for justice and for what was right, this great man should never be forgotten. RIP Simon rest easy knowing what you did was selfless and brave you are a hero to so many.❤️❤️🙏
  • @Brian1Graves
Wiesenthal was a great man. I applauded his every victory.
  • @lunalicrichard
Simon Wiesenthal deserves a monument in every ( European) country! But is almost forgotten now and only the older people (40/50 +) know who he was. His name should be in every classroom in the world. In every history lesson on WW2. That is how much we owe this man and his work to catch Nazis!
  • I listen to these at work (wood shop) and I am just so appreciative of these works and to be able to learn while making a living. Thank you for the time you put into these videos.
  • I just can't wrap my head around the fact that a murderer who actually enjoys killing people in a bizarre manner and, has personally murdered so many people turns himself to police for protection in old age merely to escape the possibility of being murdered. Amazing. That will stick with me for a very long time.
  • @robertruf9778
Never ceases to amaze me how the Catholic Church is involved in so many of these murders escaping.
  • @barbaras8562
Thank God for this man. He was a beacon for justice for the survivors.
  • @nancyoleksy
What gets me is these men, and I use that term lightly, who did all these horrible things to people can't even last a year in a prison cell that was 100 times better than what the people they were in charge of had. They were cowards in the end who got to live many happy years of freedom while so many people young and old died at their hands.
  • @susannaude8514
These monsters died too easily. Whoever ratted on Stangl and whoever killed Wagner, they deserve medals!!
  • Wow when I saw Richard Raske gasping for air after describing a murder of a baby and the mother, I nearly lost it.
