This piano version of the song evokes my most inner child memories playing all the legend of Zelda games, and makes me feel even for a hour the careless and happiness of being a child.. running the hyrul field and dungeons.. being an adult now 25 with bills and responsibilities, it can be so chaotic. My late cousin was a real PRO at Ocarina of Time, I used to spend hours by her side just watching her play and defeat all the bosses. She passed away 2 years ago, whenever I listen to the game’s soundtrack it makes me feel connected to her ❤️

A song of simpler times. A time when we were all heroes and had the world out in front of us. At 35 now with a mortgage, kids, and a wife who no longer loves me it hard to believe we were ever that little boy who walked into that temple. Cherish your youth, its over before you know it.

This is my absolute favorite song. Because it brings up so many emotions in one simple tune. Longing, nostalgia, growing old, and most of all, regret. Even though Link saved all the ones he cared about and sacrificed everything for his friends, he was cursed to never be remembered by the ones he saved. He never moved on from Ganondorf and couldn’t pass down his abilities to his children or relatives, and eventually became a shade with unfinished business, his memory fading to time. Only did he find peace when he taught all of his skills to another hero like himself... Like the man in the windmill, Link couldn’t forget his anger, rage, and his inner storm. Thats what this song represents. Its the tune of restless spirits and of eventually finding peace and clarity. It’s also really catchy...
