Im retired Army and handicapped. Those DV tags are not handicapped plates genius.

His car would also be towed in Texas. Texas changed the law in January 2022. DV plates alone do not qualify for Disabled Parking. They must have the ISA ♿ symbol on the plates, or have a ISA placard displayed to be parked in the disabled parking.

In Texas...you need a handicap placard or handicap license plate to park in a "Handicap" spot. The Disabled Veteran plate alone, does not allow you to park in a handicap parking spot. "Entitlement" doesn't work. And, I am a retired US Army Veteran and disabled veteran with a lifetime handicap placard. This individual needs to learn the laws of Colorado and respect them.

DV plates are NOT handicap plates...I've heard it too many times, "I'm a disabled vet" I can park in disabled parking, then they tell you they are 60% Tinnitus in one ear??? LOL...DV plates dont put you in the same class as a handicap person, it was the Vets that artificially elevated the DV plates to equal status as HANDICAP

Unfortunately, for him, the towing company is correct he didn’t have the proper placard to park there. Just because it says disabled vet doesn’t mean it’s for handicapped parking. You have to have the handicapped symbol, or the placard on the vehicle to be legal. I’m a disabled veteran myself and my plates have both on there.

He would have gotten towed here in Texas too. He needs a placard or the handicap symbol on the plate itself.
-
His plate was not a disabled plate. He needs to have a ISA on his plate or a placard hanging in his car. The law is clear.
-
You can get a handicap placard from your Dr.
-
This is the reason I chose the plate with the isa (wheelchair symbol) here in Florida. Wanted the regular DV plate but was worried Florida might follow Texas law eventually.
-
the sign said handicapped not disabled. you can be deaf and disable so you dont need handicapped parking.
-
In Texas DV plates are issued to vets with 50% or more disability, which is almost meaningless. If Texas deems you eligible to park in Handicapped spot(100% disabled), they issue you a placard. Always. Don't play dumb with your privileges, for it may hurt other vets who are playing by the rules.

Im retired Army to 20 years. I retired 22 years ago and am just now getting the tag after I found out how much you save in taxes.
-
West Palm Beach in Florida has no respect for disabled veterans either
-
My brother, grandfather both are disabled veterans. They both have dv plates and they both have regular hAndicap decals. So….
-
That's not a legit handicapped placard. Sorry.
-
I am eligible for DV plates. I’ve been retired for over a year and a half from the army. 22 years active duty. 100% from the VA as well. I still haven’t gotten them. I feel fine. Maybe when the day that it hurts to walk, then I’ll get them. Until that day, let someone who really needs it RIGHT NOW get the good parking.

There should be just 1 disabled plate that can be used in any state. Im so glad in England its actual a blue badge you put inside your window. You csn take it eith uou to.ues in different cars. Itd registerd to.the didabled person not the car

Part of the solution is to force towing companies to publish a tariff and lock in their prices. A voluntary tow from the same location can be had at a fraction of the cost, this really is just a money grab.

This happened to my roommate too. And towed by Midnight Towing...

They are told or atleast should of been told that the DV disabled veteran plate isn't enough for disabled parking. The plate must have the accesiblity icon (♿) on it or also have a valid placard displayed. If you think about it isn't fair as disabled civilians have to have the icon as well. Our local police department and parking authority write disabled veterans warnings to educate them and then if they continue they get fined.
