You guys liked it when I ranted about text, so here's another video lol.

I've always been confused by scratch's featured projects, but in this video I explain what I learned about the featured list.

I think its because scratch team also focus on the community aspect and not just the coding part so whatever unique art thing might make it up there. another problem i have is the top loved section or loved by scratchers im following because a good amount of spots are taken by generic platformers instead of games that deserve more attention

yea. even though i think that featuring more complex, and intresting games would give pepole an example of what can be accomplished and give new users something to strive towards
  • @boredyoutubeuser
Yeah, I had the same thoughts! Some projects just seem kinda lame, so now it makes sense!

scratch is for beginner programmers! we cant just show them the capabilites of scratch! also scratch: *proceeds to add a mod block which 60% of the community doesn't understand and refuses to use the clone block in any of the tutorials"

I got featured once on scratch accidentally. but it turned out to my benefit, as I was working on a series of action combat platformers, that, since I was featured, ended up getting massive amounts of views. or at least, massive compared to what I'm used to.

As someone who's been featured before, I 100% agree. My game that got featured, was made in less then a day. I have spent weeks sometimes working on games, and yet, the game that I put almost NO effort into, got featured... I was happy and disappointed at the same time... 😑
  • I completely agree, I got a featured project. It was the fireflies one or whatever, but i don’t know why it was featured. I really should not have any projects have been featured
  • Him says he uses penguinmod Me:me to His subscriber count increases by one

I made a FNAF game with like 4000 blocks of code, I spent like 4 - 5 months on it, and that didn't get featured, the Scratch team just choose games with no effort put into them, just why? Like forget Generic Platformers whoever makes them are just desperate to get on the front page...

They just feature ___ creators nowadays. I did propose “Drop The Orange” to be featured and they ended up featuring it so there’s that.
  • And then the simple games don't get enough attention. Like seriously- I have a game called Coin Run 2: Demo 2.5, and it's probably the most simple game out there. The algorithm is rigged guys.
  • @MineZack2
Because the scratch team thinks that the only people using scratch are 7 year olds :/
  • @SLINKIS2
So your saying i have a higher chance of getting featured? I make simple games for the reason of what you said at 1:52, so new people can learn off of my code. I make more animations than games... But i think thats still a thing, you can get ideas of other peoples animations... And then someone gets an idea from you... And it keeps on going forever, thats actually how most animations are made! Even outside of scratch
  • My games are complex and yet they get 5 views or something so I think that scratch's featured page sucks in my opinion
