Every police officer's career path is different, but Grant Keams' path started while he was just in high school when he was recruited into the U.S. Marine Corps. Transitioning to the police force for the Navajo Nation (where officers number approximately 1.9 for every 1,000 people) was easy for Grant. But let go of whatever picture you've developed in your mind of the type of person he is--because he's much more than that. Join us as we get to know Grant Keams and discover what it's like to be a police officer on the Navajo Nation.

First of all Thank you for your service! 🇺🇸🇺🇸 Second- Thank you for your service to our people. I know Grant's mom. Very nice lady. We talk everytime I travel through Artesia. I am currently the "2nd gentleman" of the Navajo Nation. My wife is the Vice President Richelle Montoya.

The Navajo Nation should have shuttles for veterans to go to VA appts. My spouse is retired and when they tried to see what there is to offer they were disappointed. Specially with the veteran homes. Biggest complaint we always hear is they don’t build them for vets right away. Vets always get it when there really old and end up passing away never really getting to live in there homes. When it comes to the younger vets I think they should build a home for them. But Navajo nation sucks at helping. Well from the area we’re at. But the best thing we’ve did before they got out is buy a home. Just wish we could live on the Rez but it’s hard to find someone to build and we didn’t want to be living with our parents while trying to find something.

Native police should work better with local sheriff and pd. I'm glad they allow non natives to be cops. Help bring awareness to what goes on the reservation.
