Tillotson 225RS Vs 225R Dyno Testing

Published 2024-05-21
Today we get in the Tillotson 225RS racing engine to test on the dyno. We go through the history of the 225RS and where its place is in this hobby & industry. We take it to the dyno and test the 2023 short exhaust, then the 2024 new long exhaust, EC WC22 carb, then switch it to the 225R spec and test the WC22 vs the GPS22 carb.

The GPS carb tested in this video was a 26mm version and should have been the 22mm version. You can take that info however you’d like. Still should have made more power if tuned properly but we did not change any jets in the 3 carbs.

Mikuni is a big name and still has a reputation behind it that people still trust and are willing to drop money on a name. Either way, I enjoyed the video, can't wait to see what's up next!
  • I really like how your videos are set up! slight music in the background not too loud, cuts to shots of parts while talking, great job explaining, and background for the main shot of the video. You definitely have some great video quality skills keep it up!
  • Everything that you've said in this video, especially in the beginning about EC carburetors and all the joining companies to come together to make the to listen to 225 for the competition racing racing. I've been saying it for years I'm glad people are starting to figure this stuff out.

I know you are very busy and it's not high up on your list but the 500 and 999 are going to be epic with your attention to tuneing.great to see actual numbers not wild claims others make for their "tune up vids" great work 👍
  • @PaulThomas-qo9vy
Thanks RBG, this vid is chocked full-O-nuts great info.! Nice to hear about new carbs that perform great, are easily tuneable, yet wallet friendly!

As always, so very cool. you make real tech something we can understand. Thank you sir and Mrs redbeard for the viedo!
  • Love dyno videos. Proof what works and what doesn't. Man I want to see a gy6 build. Lots of aftermarket parts but no proof anything works. Nobody has real gy6 dyno numbers.

Man, without the rev limiter that thing sounded wicked! My built 212 sounds the same! I wish i had access to a dyno here in Upstate New York because my Rascal with my engine is scary fast. Actually the engine is way more than i need. I'm going to be putting on some much taller tires, as in 19's or 20's, so that is just going to make it faster yet. I want torque for riding off road, not flying down the street. But wheeling anytime on a roll is a whole lot of fun for this old man! Love your channel Red Beard!

Wish there was more people out there that did this content. I love it high quality content that people want to see. U helped me build my little 224 pred 2 years ago with the vids getting back into it again now. What ever happened to the sent in engine by the fan. I’m dying to see how it came out and the hp it was pushing.
  • @gavansgains990
I have an NOS wet nitrous kit and a stock predator 212 laying around! Please let me blow it up on your dyno for a video.
  • You have such good content. How about a dyno run before and after a head port and polish.
  • @amandarego9684
I've really been liking those cheap 24mm PWKs. Maybe next time you could possibly throw one of those in there to see how they stack up. I think they most definitely outperform my round slides
  • @KompressorPete
Great test! Thx How about doing a Oillevel and Oil viscosity test? How little Oil amount is needed?
  • @MrNamegame
Funny enough, your mentioning of the long header helping dissipate exhaust heat made me think about the exhaust manifold leak my brother's Miata currently has and how its probably actually making the engine run a little hotter due to adding engine bay heat on top of the obvious carbon monoxide dangers. Thankfully its a convertible but still, lol
  • @minibikemadman
I've just build a stage 2 predator..hemi bottom end..non hemi head..black mamba jr cam, 26lb springs, champion rockers...moefabco exhaust and wildcat 26mm carb.
  • @racerothery2716
I trusted my money to EC and bought a bad ass 32/25 Head that came already smoothed out inside and everything. It was $200 but hold smokes it’s nice and ready out of the box. THANKS EC
  • Love the WC22 carb. They run great out of the box on most 212's. The GPS carb isn't bad but I have also found that it's jetted too big out of the box for most common stuff. Have you run EC's PWK 24 yet? I have one in the box but haven't put it on anything yet.
