You don’t make a lot of videos but every time one comes out it’s always good.

Thanks for the shoutout, and best of luck with this new project!
  • I’ve made a few bp guns before and make sure that everything is removable and easy to clean

Love the Idahoan Show! I also love making black powder guns. Here are some tips: 1. The most important part of black powder guns is getting the breech plug right. Do a bit of research on breech plug design to be sure you know how to fit one correctly. Deulist1954 has a good series on building flintlock rifles where he shows how to fit a breech plug. 2. The other hard part is getting a good balance between hammer strength and ease of cocking. Percussion caps take a bit more "umph" to get them to go off. You need a good strong spring with enough hammer mass to get the percussion cap to go off. 3. The last tip I'll give is to use a hardened piece of metal for the hammer face. A soft piece of common steel may work initially, but it will continue to deform on each hammer strike and eventually not have enough surface area in contact with the cap to get it to go off. You will also want to use a hardened piece of steel for the percussion cap nipple for the same reasons. Everything else is just standard gun design stuff which you already have experience with. Good luck. I can't wait to see the results.

Oh nice, I was The Idahoan show too. Great looking shirt :)

Try to make the flash hole/cap tunnel more obtuse than a 90 degree angle as it will probably increase reliability and speed of ignition. Not that it will really matter.

I love the idahoanshow. You both are the two best homemade gun channels. :)) Nice shirt brother.

You should try to make an open bolt single shot. sort of like the luty gun, but without a magwell. ever see RoyalNonesuch's open bolt single shot .22? That's what i would want to see, but in either 12 gauge, 9mm, .45 acp, or .38 spcl

Great video as usual, I really appreciate your work. Merry Christmas, and stay safe.

You should definitely make side plates for where the trigger and hammer pins go through the wood or the pins will wear the wood out and eventually the hammer and trigger will misalign, but overall it looks like a good design, good luck!

You should do a shirt design of a cartoon version of yourself welding a gun together 😂 you make that I'll buy 3
  • Paint is da best. Designed many things on it lol. I designed something similar to the pump action the Idahoan built tho my design uses an actual detachable mag.
