I love him so much! I remember being so worried after Avi left but as soon as Matt came in I was hooked. Such an infectious smile and a joyful spirit. He fitted the spirit of the group immediately and was a breath of fresh air. He did an amazing job and I'm so proud of how far he has come because those were not easy shoes to fill. Fantastic interview! Matt has the best energy, he just exudes so much joy. I didn’t realize I was smiling all through this until the end when I realized my smile muscles were feeling it, 😂. I wish I could have seen that call-back audition as a fly on the wall, to see the expressions when the rest of the band were first exposed to that joy he brings and realized what his energy did when it was combined with theirs. There is no mistaking that thrill of happiness when you’re making music together and it becomes something uniquely different than Just the sum of the parts. All 5 of them are monster singers with solo juice, but Pentatonix is a very specific and miraculous thing unto itself.

It’s so interesting to hear Matt’s story. He’s the perfect fit of talent, training and work ethic. Excellent singer.

I am so happy that out of all the amazing bass vocalists Pentatonix could have chosen to replace Avi, who was and is and will always be absolutely phenomenal, they chose Matt. He truly is a gift from God. I hope one day Matt and The Bass Gang will collaborate with each other. It would be truly extraordinary!
