For centuries, lemons have been grown on Italy's Amalfi Coast, where they thrived on the mountainous terrain and became a key ingredient in the culinary landscape. Correspondent Seth Doane visits the Aceto family, which has been farming lemons for seven generations, and learns about the challenges and rewards of growing the sensorially-delightful fruit.

I'm in Amalfi right now and just did their private tour and made pasta and pizza and ate everything and got to meet and spend time with the whole family. An unforgettable experience! I saw this video months back and it's why I planned my trip to Amalfi.

I'm a New Yorker but of Italian descent - lemons are incorporated into everything you eat and see from the time you're born , and for cleaning as well !

Isn't it wonderful how this family tends to their small business with such love and reverence for lemons! The views of the orchard and surrounding town are magnificent!!

  • As someone who has visited Amalfi and Atrani and has taken their lemon tour, I hope that things can turnaround quickly and return to some sense of normalcy for them and everyone else on the Amalfi Coast.

The pride and joy over their lemons and ways of life exude the air and it's so refreshing. Love to visit that garden of dream someday!

I noticed they didn’t show Seth’s reaction when he bit into the lemon. Would have loved to see that.
