“7 Minute Drill” is the 12th and final song on J. Cole’s surprise mixtape “Might Delete Later”. The track serves as an anticipated response to Kendrick Lamar’s disses on “Like That”. In Kendrick’s verse on “Like That”, he takes shots at both J. Cole and Drake. This is seen as a continuation of the ongoing beef between these two artists, with Kendrick pronouncing himself alone as the best in the game and also fired shots back at J.Cole & Drake’s alleged “sneak dissing” on “First Person Shooter”. On “7 Minute Drill”, J.Cole addresses Kendrick’s previous work, and hints that this is only the beginning of the diss war between the two rap phenomenons.

cole would be holding his own if he was still involved, i hate that the world feels like he can’t compete 😭 he just really cool with the both of them

I totally understand why Cole "backed out" of the beef. He wanted a friendly fade. He wanted to have a rap battle with his friends. But his friends didn't like each other very much, and had a very different score to settle, one that was definitely outside the bounds of a "friendly fade" lol

Cole thought that it was going to be competition of lyricism. Thought it was gonna stay a sport. He was right to exit because Kdot had wanted this battle for years. He legit wants to kill what Drake symbolizes.

I hated the apology, but looking back. He played it perfectly. Cole doesn't care about popular opinion and still got his flex off
  • J Cole realized this beef is not just about the Big 3. It's really personal to K. Dot & Drake..they really hate each other and Cole is not about that

  • @TAYKONG
this feels like a nursery rhyme compared to how serious things got

Y’all trippin thinking Cole was scared of the fight. That ain’t why he paused the pressure. It’s deeper than rap. Cole a real one ✊🏾
