7.1 earthquake hit Japan in Nankai Trough triggering tsunami warnings for Southern coast of Japan

The earthquake that trembled the Nankai Trough in Japan happened at 9:42 p.m. HST, Wednesday night. The quake affected a heavily populated area near the Southern main island Kyushu. All 12 nuclear reactors on Kyushu and Shikoku remain operating and safe according to the Nuclear Regulation Authority.
