Be sure and put some grease In your iron skillet..get it hot In the oven, before you put the batter In It 😁
Easy homemade cornbread recipe

1 1/4 cup self rising flour
1 cup of cornmeal
1tsp baking soda
6 Tbsp (or so) of sugar
1/2 cup butter (or oil if you prefer soft and moist cornbread)
1 1/4 cups or so of buttermilk
2-3 eggs
Bake in preheated oven at 425 for about 25 minutes...
While hot brush top of cornbread with lots of
butter! 😋

My mom was very rigid about cornbread. It had to be white cornmeal and not a grain of sugar or it wasn’t cornbread. Of course I like what I grew up on for the comfort of familiarity but it’s also in my heart to tweak things. I got sweet cornbread at school once and thought it was good in a different way and didn’t understand why my mom was so opposed to it. I like your approach better: it doesn’t have to be exactly the same every time and it’s ok to use what is on hand or change up the flavor here and there just because. Wish I had me a slice of your cornbread for breakfast!

This video was so satisfying, besides the fact that I'm doing Keto and can't have any of this 🥴🤦🏾♀️🤣. It looks absolutely amazing. Cornbread isn't cornbread if you don't pour if in a hot iron skillet to get the crispy edges.

OMG! I just looked up my grandmother’s cornbread recipe. In my family, our grandmother made it and passed the making of it to my sister so she was the one who always made it. That duty passed right over my mom. THERE IS SUGAR IN THE RECIPE! It’s just 2 tsp, but there’s sugar, which makes sense to brown it even if not for flavor. My mom would roll in her grave to discover this.
