I'm 79 and have used the same 48L Exos, I like the way it carries, it's very comfortable, but I'm not so keen on the rear mesh pocket, and the small hip pockets. I tried a Z-lite, and couldn't cope with it, so bought a NeoAir. My main regret as a hiker is purchasing a waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers. They are now redundant because I now use an Altus poncho, (40 Euros) which has a full zip and sleeves. If I have condensation, I just open the zip, and it all dries out rapidly. Nowadays I only carry a windproof jacket to cover my warm layers.
