x4 Indian Air Force Mirage 2000 - Cobra Warrior 2023 [4K]

Published 2023-03-08
Under the callsign MERCURY, three Dassault Mirage 2000TI and a single Mirage 2000I departed RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire on Monday 6th March kicking off Exercise Cobra Warrior in style.

MERCURY 73 (tail code KT208) and MERCURY 74 ( tail code KT211) were the first two jets to depart followed later by MERCURY 71 (KT213) and MERCURY 72 (KF118). The pilots are from all three squadrons of 40 Wing - 1 Squadron ‘Tigers’, 7 Squadron ‘Battle Axes’, and 9 Squadron ‘Wolfpack’.

These are one of the highlights of this year's Cobra Warrior and mark the first time these aircraft have been to the UK. They are conducting missions with, amongst others, Finnish, Belgian, Saudi and Royal Air Forces as part of the largest air exercise run by the RAF. The exercise runs for three weeks with the aim of training participants in high intensity, large force, tactical air combat operations.

These jets were so unbelievably loud that they shook the optics in my camera as their burners were engaged. They are powered by a single SNECMA M53-P2, which is an upgraded version of the original M53. Honestly, I don't think I've heard a louder fighter.

Dassault really did a amazing job with the aesthetics of the two seaters. One of the few examples where the addition of a second pilot didn't ruin the beauty of the airplane.
  • Looks like the Indian Air Force pilots made it a great day for aviation photographers giving them ample full view of their beautiful Mirage 2000s. Very well maintained jets and very cool videos indeed. Kudos to you for capturing the IAF Mirage in its full beauty and glory.
  • My good fortune is that I flew these beauties in the IAF and during the Kargil action. Absolute power and a potent cobra.
  • The Reliability & Dependability of the Mirage 2000s vs all other IAF fighters during the 1999 Kargil War is what sealed the deal for the Rafale later on.

Fully agree about the sound of the Mirages, even here the sound was blasting through the PCs speakers.
  • Fantastic footage, I was there on the same day and looking at the angle on my footage against yours we can't have been far apart 🙂

  • Agree Arindam................all Dassault products are dependable and their service life and longevity are beyond most ...........VAJRA (and Rafale) are the best fighters the IAF has - including the SU30..........
