How Does The Wuxi Finger Hold Work? | Kung Fu Panda

After watching the first Kung fu panda. I honestly feel bad for Tai Lung. The dude could still have become a master, a powerful one at that even without being a dragon warrior if things just turn out differently as he grew up. There could have been master oogway, master shifu and a master Tai lung in the jade palace.

Seeing someone like Tai Lung scared of the Wuxi Finger hold being used against him was something else to see.

I have a theory that "Master Wu Xi" may have actually been a panda who somehow discovered the Wu Xi finger hold and used it to travel to the spirit realm but may not have been able to find a way out so either he was lost in the spirit realm forever OR the villagers had to save him by providing enough Chi for him to get out. Whichever situation was the case, the pandas probably recognized the danger of the Wu Xi finger hold and it became a forbidden secret technique similar to forbidden jutsus in Naruto; accessible only to the elders of the village. When Kai figured out how to reverse engineer the mechanics of giving Chi into taking it instead, the pandas turned to Oogway in their desperation and told him about this forbidden Wu Xi finger hold which he then used to send Kai to the spirit realm.

Finally someone with logical reasons about the Wuxi Finger Hold

I always thought it was weird why Tai lung kept saying Shifu thought him everything but doesn't know this one. Its because even shifu doesn't know it

"They interviewed Po" is the most unexpected yet awesome sentence I've heard this year.

Kung Fu Panda 5: Tai Lung: I have returned from the spirit realm. Po: Sending you back. Tai Lung: Hold on a moment, I realized that my past indiscretions were folly and I beg your forgiveness. While trapped in the spirit realm, I sought greater power to take my revenge, but in the process I also found enlightenment. Po: Awesome. Tai Lung: I also learn to speak in a more eloquent manner. Po: Obviously. Tai Lung: At any rate, let me teach you how to defeat the antagonist in this movie and we can team up to do it. Po: Cool. Let's do this.

Tai Lung: You're buffing, you're buffing! Shifu never teach you that.

I have a theory about it, Po figured out how to use it just after figuring out the secret ingredient in his father's soup. Nothing, but to make something special, you have to believe it's special. It's kind of goofy, but I perfectly believe that it is either a bluff that doesn't exist and was used to scare people, or it was an actual technique, but never had the 'skadoosh' effect. The only reason it does for Po is because he 'believes' it's special. Therefore it is. Ties in with the first movie pretty well, but likely not true.

Shifu probably saw Master Oogway use it at one point. But Master Oogway never taught him how to do it, because its too dangerous. So it is more correct to say that Poe rediscovered the move before he even understood what chi energy was. He had been completely obsessed with the Kung Fu Warriors literally from the moment he came to live with his adopted father. That's why when Shifu holds him in the grip in the first movie he quotes the text about the creation of the move and why it is called what it is called because of the master who supposedly developed it. I feel like it is one of the things that people who are inherently good at Kung Fu in that universe eventually figure out and then they realize it is too destructive. This is why when he holds that grip on Tigress she's like are you kidding me. Because that move is literally a one-hit kill and you don't use that thing in training. And it's partially from her that he starts to understand exactly how dangerous that move is and he starts to respect the power a lot more even though he technically rediscovered it because Master Oogway did not directly teach it to Master Shifu or Poe himself.

Whenever I look at the Wuxi finger hold.. it reminds me of Musou Attacks from Dynasty Warriors on how every Warrior can perform the power of Musou..

Ahhh the wuxi finger hold I've seen ALL Kung Fu Panda movies and I can agree it's DEFINITELY Po's most POWERFUL move ever!!!

I never thought of it as a ghost story, I always thought the hold only had power over people who were scared by/ knew it, as we see Tai Lung being scared of the technique and it worked and Po knew about and how to do it ant it worked in the third movie on himself. Though idk if anyone else in the shows got skadooshed since I didn't watch them

If Po can send people to the spirit realm does that mean Tai Lung basically isn't dead?
