And is there something suspicious about the way these chains, such a BWW, Domino's, and Papa Johns name their boneless meats. Let's find out exactly what these restaurants are hiding from us...

I remember ordering Wendy’s boneless wings in 2009. The cashier turned around and grabbed a clamshell box of nuggets, poured sauce on it, shook the box and placed it in front of me. It felt like I paid a couple extra dollars to have my nuggets shaken.

I worked at a Buffalo Wild Wings for 7 years and was a manager during the wing price increase it was actually insane how much wings were to buy per case and what the corporate standard for our store was alone
  • @morgastic23
So I used to work in food service and the amount of customers I had that were shocked when I told them boneless wings aren't wings was high. This guy isn't alone.
  • @Ava-rp4yj
I genuinely have always thought that the reason they still call the wings is because adults don’t wanna eat tenders or nuggets
  • @muyhiram
MatPat didn't address the fact that a de-boned wing is probably more expensive than a regular wing. Even if you buy your wings with bone, you need to factor in the labor of de-boning them.

Food theory idea: what made Breakfast foods come to be considered Breakfast foods and why are they always so isolated from every other food/ meal group? Most restaurants that serve Breakfast foods either refuse to serve them past a certain time or advertise that they are available all day. Lunch and Dinner are usually interchangeable, but why not Breakfast? Why does no other meal get this treatment?

One thing you didn’t mention was that the places not calling them boneless wings seemed to be pretty much just pizza places vs sit down restaurants that are focused on bar type food. Plus those places seem to have a tendency to default to having slightly smaller pieces and serving then either topped or with a dipping sauce as opposed to tossed. Any place that’s big on wings seems to call them boneless wings.

I think a more important comparison for whether there would be confusion over the name boneless wings would be how many restaurants are selling deboned wings as "Boneless Wings" because that would be more likely to create the association between the name and the product in someone's mind and lead to a legal harm when that expectation isn't fulfilled
  • @ivacheung792
I think when you consider differences in pricing you also have to take into account the labour of deboning the wings.
  • @fingamersroup
Shouldn’t we also factor in the labour costs for the value analysis? deboning the real wings looked like a lot more extra work

As a side note, you can probably look this up to confirm, from what I've heard "French Fries" is a term used because the potatoes are "French Cut." One of the founding fathers, I think Jefferson, said he wanted French Cut Potatoes for his meal. And when frying things in oil became a thing, they named them French Fries (short for French Cut, Fried potatoes). Again look it up to confirm because it's what I heard.

0:17 Boneless chicken wings, chicken nuggets, chicken tenders, they're all the same, because they DON'T HAVE legs
  • @girphantom2960
I worked at Buffalo Wild Wings and most of everything came in frozen. The only thing that isn’t frozen are the sauces and veggies. Their prices are outrageous for the quality. They don’t make any of their sides and even though the guacamole says it’s made in house, if they’re out they will store buy it. They are a glorified fast food restaurant
  • @rebelfriend9021
As a current Papa John's employee, I can inform you that just a month or 2 ago, Papa John's changed the name from "chicken poppers" to "boneless wings"
  • @Husain20119
1:39 your life has to really easy for you to get this offended over chicken wings to the point where you sue the company
  • @tyrant-den884
We need a restaurant serving: Tenders, nuggets, strips, tendies, nuggies, (edit:) fingers, and boneless wings. (Edit:) Popcorn Chicken and The Chickrib are irregular event specials.
  • @finkelmana
So I can sue the various lunch restaurants, because I cant take an underwater trip in my sandwich?
