That fact that she got acclaimed actor; Donald Sutherland, to play the father for this video, show the power of Kate's writing, and storytelling. So much to the point; he wanted to be in this music video.
  • @stewartp115
She wrote it single-handedly, she produced it single-handedly, she directed the video, presumably single-handedly. Total artistry.
  • There is just nobody on earth like Kate Bush! I can see how a lot of people don’t know what to make of her but I love her unique sound and all the attention to storytelling in each song. Just brilliant! ❤️
  • @Spiderific
Kate Bush has blown my mind many of times. I think the woman is a musical genius, honestly.
  • The video is inspired by Book of Dreams, a book written by Peter Reich about his relationship with his father and told from a child's point of view. This video is a gem and the story is very touching. You can count on Kate Bush to relay all the emotions visually, musically, and lyrically.
  • When i first heard Kate Bush, i think that was about two years ago, long before the resurgence of "Running Up That Hill", I also felt that her songs were weird, and i thought, who would've like these type of songs, it's so ridiculous. But that was when i first heard Wuthering Heights, it is so weird that i listened to it again, and again up until i already searched for its lyrics and memorized it.. After that, I got more curious so i listened to Babooshka, Running Up That Hill, Cloudbusting, This Woman's Work, until i already added those songs into my playlist, so I searched for more like Hounds Of Love, Army Dreamers, Them Heavy People, Wow, There Goes a Tenner, The Man With The Child In His Eyes, Breathing and many more.. Now i am now addicted to Kate Bush, she's so eccentric, but she's a genius singer-songwriter, plus she's so gorgeous.. i hope you react to more of her songs..😁

Kate is a very eclectic artist-progressive way before her time!Love her!
  • The father is portrayed by one of the best actors ever Donald Sutherland who has been acting since the 1960’s. His son is actor Kiether Sutherland, whom you have seen in The Lost Boys and Stand By Me. He was also in the hit tv series 24 as Jack Bauer.
  • @Shrykespeare
Two very famous people involved in this video - the actor is Donald Sutherland (Kate Bush played the character's son). The video was directed by Bush and Terry Gilliam, who was a member of Monty Python and who also directed films like Brazil, The Fisher King, and 12 Monkeys.

Kate Bush is a great artist, I love her music
  • @leroyrs
I simply love Kate Bush. She's an awesome artist. That song is so captivating.
  • I absolutely adore this song. Kate just has a way of pulling out so many emotions from me with her music and her voice. Just incredible. And, yes, her videos are art.
  • I get where J is coming from; Kate's voice is an acquired taste. Listen to the words, J. She tells s beautiful story. That's actor Donald Sutherland playing her father in the video. Having lost my own father, the line "Oh but Daddy, I won't forget" absolutely tears my heart out. My Daddy loved Kate.

The video, directed by Julian Doyle, stars Donald Sutherland as the inventor/father trying to get his cloudbusting machine to work, and Bush in the role of his young son, Peter. Doyle remembered to Mojo magazine that Bush originally wanted to flip genders and portray Peter Reich literally as a boy. "I said, 'You can't be a boy. People are not gonna accept that. Let's just be androgynous so that we don't know whether you're a boy or a girl.'"
  • Kate’s music isn’t for everybody because she’s so unique and unorthodox but nobody can deny her talent, she’s a genius and the most well-rounded female artist in Music History and has influenced countless other Artists. Without a doubt, one of the all-time greats 🙌🏻🔥
  • Kate took inspiration, for this song, from the 1973, Peter Reich memoir, " A Book of Dreams". Bush read the book and was deeply moved. It was the close relationship between psychiatrist and philosopher Wilhelm Reich and his young son Peter. The book's story is told by Peter as an adult. Beautiful song by Kate. Great reaction. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️❤️ 🇨🇦 🇨🇦

Ok, so for Kate Bush, I love her duet with Peter Gabriel, Don't Give Up-- I think even Jay might dig that one! And I can't think of Kate Bush without thinking of Tori Amos-- anything from the album Little Earthquakes, but if I had to narrow it down, I'd have to say Silent All These Years or Winter
