Mango 4.0 is ONLINE!
Sunk every free moment in October I had into getting him up and running by Halloween. Happy to say he's been a big hit! I've had TRIPLE the number of trick-or-treaters I normally get. The guy has always drawn attention, whatever size he's been.
Super happy with how he turned out. I got the motions I wanted and I managed to nail EXACTLY the image for him I head in my head. I think he looks better than any version before him. And at 11fttall, he doesn't quite stand above the infamous 12ft Home Depot skeleton (who I ripped apart for parts), but with a 7ft reach, I think my boy could take him in a fight.
(fun fact: if you build an animatronic and call it a "cyborg", then you get to be lazy about covering the robot bits XD )

Mango has 9 points of articulation (8 are pneumatic, and the neck is a RC servo) and one LED eye (specifically, Neopixels from Adafruit). The servo uses a heavy duty servo gearbox from ServoCity.com, and the air cylinders are controlled by solenoids from Frightprops.com, which are all in turn controlled by an Arduino. The audio comes from a Puppet Master Sound System from VFXCreates.com.
