Are You Great On The FRONT BRAKES?

Published 2017-04-28
We talk a lot about various intermediate skill level braking techniques, in this video Pattrick brings them all together in an easy to understand fashion. If you're a Level 2 rider, watch this video, learn from Pattrick, and try the techniques out on your next trackday. You'll be amazed how much smoother you can be! -Randy Joy
I agree with Randy 100%! This is yet another MUST WATCH VIDEO! Just a few of Patt's pointers. "Your braking zone becomes longer as you become faster." "You want to AVOID grabbing more that 10% when you're setting the front tire." "Unbelievable what these modern sport bikes will do with the front brakes!" "As you add lean angle - give back the front brakes." Listen, absorb and digest this material and become much, much better on your front brakes! Enjoy. -Dave Wonders

Damn. Always thought trail brake up to the apex. So Thats why my rear always feels slippery mid corner. Good tip. Got that figured out. Now i can focus on proper smooth throttle input

I appreciate the simple explanation of the technique. Many dynamics at work throwing a machine into a corner with loads changing front to rear and picking the correct line and timing the down shifts, off brake and on gas. Fun stuff that can be applied to larger heavy touring machines. Thanks.

It's 1:23 AM, just rode my bike home from a pool tournament, drank a shot, and loaded this up. Now all I wanna do is go find a Starbucks and a huge parking lot and just work on braking. I've found parking garages up and down to be a great way to practice short shifts, braking, and low speed maneuvers in a city setting. This guy is awesome. All riders should watch this

Watched this video as a brand new rider. A year and a half of riding later this video makes so much more sense as a more experience rider
  • @MrAnexsys1
good explanation. seldom seen trail braking covered in track day sessions

I'm on the other side of the globe, but I'm Still learning much. Thanks to this channel. Good work. 👌
  • At $399 a day per person they can't afford to get this poor guy an easel? His information is great.
  • @iTxip
This man gives good advise, i actually thought i had to brake till the apex, when i try to push to my limit is what i ussually do. but that little bit of gas just to get the bike stable throught the apex makes sense, il try when the weather gets better

At 399 a day ill take this valuable information any day as if it was meant to be video but respect for us riders wanting to learn and ride safe thanks guys
  • @willeypoboy6052
As you increase lean angle, give back brake. Thanks! That's a good way to think about it while doing...

Everyone in the class is a comedian, after 10 mins of that I'd be asking for a refund or reschedule

not much of a problem on road riding since you are trying to be safe most of the time, but when it comes to actually riding fast, im super horrible with front brakes, no idea how to use it properly at all.

How do you put some design on your suits? Are those patches? Or stickers?
  • @cosminel1211
I think this works if you know the curve or you have sight of the road completely or on a track. Otherwise, how do you know when to finish trail braking (0% brake) and give gas, if you don't see the exit? For regular road riding, I support the advice from Motojitsu and/or Mcrider...
