"Reelin' In the Years" is a classic rock song by Steely Dan, released in 1972 as part of their debut album "Can't Buy a Thrill." Known for its catchy guitar riffs and sophisticated jazz-influenced arrangements, the song was written by band members Walter Becker and Donald Fagen. The lyrics reflect a nostalgic look at past memories and relationships, with a touch of melancholy and reflection. The guitar solo, performed by session musician Elliott Randall, is particularly iconic, noted for its technical proficiency and memorable melody. "Reelin' In the Years" became one of Steely Dan's most popular tracks, reaching the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and solidifying the band's reputation for blending rock with jazz and intricate songwriting. Its enduring popularity has made it a staple of classic rock radio playlists and a favorite among fans of 1970s rock music.

  • They use Steely Dan albums to sell high end stereo equipment because of the S-Tier engineering. Becker and Fagan spent OVER $2 Million to produce the album AJA to get the perfect sound on every track swapping in session artists and whole entire backing bands for each song (and did this on most of their albums after the first 3)
  • That is the perfect Rock/Fusion Band of all time! 😎πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

"...The things that pass for knowledge I can't understand..."
  • Not for nothing some of the greatest guitar solos and greatest guitarists can be found on many, many, many Steely songsπŸ™πŸ™πŸ™
  • Stealy Dan is an orgasm of sound. Their name suits them perfectly
  • This was more from their rock era. If you want the more funky, groovy, jazzy Steely Dan, check out their later tunes.. Peg, Kid Charlemagne, Josie, and Glamor Profession. Great tunes you guys will love.
  • Becker and Fagan, will be regarded as one of the greatest songwriting duos in the history of modern music. There are so many songs in the Steely Dan library well worth listening to. Thanks guys! Keep it up!
  • This is the song that made me a Steely Dan fan. Back in 1972 when I was in the 7th grade, I was taking a shortcut through the cafeteria and I heard this song. I stopped and listened until the end of the song. Lucky for me I didn't catch it from the beginning, I was almost late for class.

"Do It Again" is another great song by Steely Dan...cool, bluesy, almost "tropical" sounding. It's a song about people being a glutton for punishment.

That filthy guitar still gets me like when I was 14❀
  • This song always takes me back to the summer of 76. It was on the jukebox at the skating rink. Got played over and over. We could all skate, dance, and sing along. 😊

They're unique sound is incredible! What a group of musicians! πŸ”₯ You guys are ready for OPETH- live, red rocks. A phenomenal band!
  • Steely Dan made timeless music. There is something for everyone in it. More great stuff from the decade of musical creativity.
  • Steely Dan is a band that doesn't have many/any throw away songs. And their 'Good' songs are very abundant. All of their studio albums are A+. You could react to almost any song in the catalog and you wouldn't go wrong. Should react to Ricki Don't Lose that Number.
  • I love this song. You should check out "Deacon Blues" off of their Aja album. All of their music is great.
