While I agree that "Haunted House" didn't exactly age well, the sequel "Return to Haunted House" kind of does. It plays less like the original and more like "Adventure", another Atari game, but with darker colors. Some of the limitations of the Atari actually make the game more terrifying, such as the minimalistic graphics and the sprite flickering recreates the horror trope of lights turning on and off. So, while it may not be as good as some modern horror titles, I would recommend "Return to Haunted House" just to try.

This isn't the first time this game has been remade, lol. It was remade for the 50th anniversary of Atari.
-
Love how he complained about the bad sound effects for the original and then didn't even bother to add a sound for the jumpscare in the "remake"
-
Now to keep on theme, you should try remaking the horror game "3D Monster Maze" for the Sinclair ZX81 that also came out in that same year. It should be even easier to do. Only one creature hunts you down (a big T-Rex) and the level is one big maze that you have to find the exit for. So its a player, inside a maze, with a dinosaur chasing you.

I can't ignore the image of some teenager from 1981 screaming their head off in their room as a little green bat comes towards them
-
"You escaped the mansion with 0lives." It wasn't an urn after all. It was a jar of olives.
-
Impressive. Although, you missed the keys, hidden doors, ghosts. You could've taken it further, all I'm saying.

3:08 -body once told me the world is gonna roll me

Am I the only one who saw "You escaped with Olives" instead of "You escaped with 0 lives"?
-
The fact that you remade the full game even with 10+ rooms is so fantastic
-
finally the first horror game being recognized 🦅🦅🦅🦅
-
Finally someone talks about the scariest horror game that ever existed “Haunted House”
-
Didn't he say in the first minutes that the sound was horrible and he was going to start with remaking it and then... Didn't add any sound at all in the game 🤣?
-
kinda crazy how 90% of the things in this video were made from chat gpt or models from other people 😅
-
Hey for this game u should add sounds to the jumpscare and a screen after like "Better luck next time!" next make it say you escaped with 0 lives instead of 0lives. and finally lower the jumpscare camera . But great game!
-
“You have escaped the mansion with olives” got me cracked up💀
-
“You escaped with 🫒”

Hey polymars, so recently I watched a tiktok that had something called "8d" audio and it was a person knocking on a door. Basically what this "8d" audio does is it makes it sound like somebody is in the room with it and it is incredibly realistic. There is probably an audio file of it out there somewhere and it is legitimately the scariest jump scare ever. You should use it in a horror game.

game: you escaped the mansion with olives me: thanks, I need a snack after all that running
