Love how a 1999 clip posted by the NCAA is better quality than a FloWrestling clip filmed in 2020

Cael Sanderson, Brandon Eggum, J Robinson, Bobby Douglas and Chris Bono all in one video? What a time to be a wrestler this was! šŸ”„

It's so cool to see a couple of future Big 10 HC's facing off.
  • I like how immediately after the announcer says "he doesnt calculate much" Sanderson shows exactly what he was talking about

Jeff knew back then...."the sky is the limit for him"...great commentator over the years, RIP

Close to 100,000 views for this legendary first NCAA Title for Sanderson. Eggum and Sanderson are now great coaches for Minnesota and Penn State respectively!!

I think the key to Sanderson seems obvious is he is so wel rounded. Good with pins, good with takedowns standing. His speed seems to be his greatest strength, but he really has no weakness either. He combines speed with strength, with intelligence, and finally stamina. He seems to never tire either

Wrestled him (Cael) in HS at Reno. He was definitely good back then but he really took it to a whole different level in college. I am fairly sure it was at Reno but it may also have been the California Classic that was held at Davis (tourny no longer exists and was ran by Tirapelle Sr when they were in NorCal).

Cael beat some serious STUDS in the finals over his career: Eggum (3x All-American, World Silver, University of Minnesota Head Coach), Vertus Jones (3x All-American, absolute stud), Daniel Cormier (Olympian, World Bronze, UFC LHW/HW Champ), Jon Trenge (3x All-American, maybe the best wrestler to never win a national championship in my opinion.)

Could you guys post my NCAA Championship match? I almost had him!

I donā€™t know why his achievements arenā€™t hailed in sports more. He also spanned or is continuing to span two centuries!

Made it look easy. Relaxed, having a good time and playing around. I donā€™t think Iā€™ve ever seen someone make something that is so hard to do, look so easy. That is a master at his craft.
  • He was outstanding in high school, but he really turned the corner going into college. A lot of wrestlers face burnout or complacency. Sanderson only seemed to get hungrier every single year. He only wrestled to win, never ā€œnot to loseā€. Zero surprises that he is already one of the greatest coaches of all time.
