One of the families fave songs from back then. My dad never remembers the band, but always says "the one with with the bloke who has the coat hanger in the scarf" and we always know who he means
-
I was 8 in February 1978, and I wouldn't dare miss one week's Top Of The Pops schedule!
-
R.I.P Kenny Young. He died on his birthday yesterday after a long illness. He was 78 years old. <3
-
I was 8 too and loved it! - The charts were so much better back in the late 70s!!
-
the telephone bit at the end makes me laugh every time
-
One of those novelty songs that you either like or dislike, and I like this a lot. Thanks for posting it - it brings back happy memories of nights out with the lads back in good old Sunderland.

Oh I bought this as soon as I heard it in the seventies, one of the first ones I bought and still one of my favourite song from the best decade ever. It's bight yellow vinyl.....to me it is priceless.

Kenny Young was some guy! Kenny (the singer) wrote “Under The Boardwalk” for The Drifters, and “Captain Of Your Ship” for Reprata And The Delrons, also “Ai No Corida” that was a US hit for Quincy Jones….and many, many others! He also formed the band FOX, and wrote and produced their hits “Only You Can”, “Imagine Me, Imagine You” and the brilliant “S-S-S-Single Bed”!

Have to agree with so many comments. This is an absolutely brilliant song put together by Kenny Young. I love this so much and The Rubettes Sugar Baby Love (not Kenny Young but the same time)
-
A great pop song and under estimated in my opinion
