In India, foreign airlines are pushing for a greater slice of the country's growing aviation market. Emirates and Turkish Airlines among the companies calling Tuesday for the country to open up more international routes in and out of the country during an aviation conference in Delhi. Their complaints come as India plans to invest nearly 12 billion dollars in the aviation industry by 2025. And as flag-carrier Air India raises its international-ambitions -- in part through the purchase of 470 aircraft. The current restrictions on international-carriers went into effect during the 2008 financial crisis after Air India incurred heavy losses.

If AirIndia manages to expand its fleet as per plan it will surely be good for Indian Aviation, Majority of the passengers traveling from western countries and back to west are Indians therefore such a plans will be surely beneficial for India.Presently AirIndia is unable to handle all the passengers on direct flights to India due to less number of Aircraft’s, and limited aircraft operations.

India needs to build a world class international airline, and it starts with a population that takes pride in being world class.

Tata has recently placed order of planes worth 100 billion dollars. Airbus and Boeing will be making it 😁😁😁😁
  • because delhi don't want any foreign company to capture our mammoth market. we want to develop our own industry
  • Hopefully India will bring down the price of tickets which have never come down to pre COVID prices despite fuel prices dropping substantially since 2019-20
  • The domestic market alone has a huge potential. It's only a matter of few years before you'll see major international airlines operating in the national market as a "domestic" segment of their international operations. No one wants to lose a slice of this cake. Hoping that Indian carriers are able to gain the first advantage. Also hoping Air India 🇮🇳 to change the face of Indian aviation.

We must make state of the art airports like china and Singapore
  • I'll be happy if we manufacture our own commercial airliners and export them to the world. Even now, many airliners use Indian components (landing gear, engine parts, winglets, etc).
  • Soon to be the highest number of population, definitely will be a big industry

U see !!! wearing chappals (i.e.slippers) to travel through skies was used to be a very dream of every common middle class Indian household now that the aviation is booming and people from middle class r posting on Facebook, Twitter describing how they r feeling to take their parents and go by themselves to travel through the airplanes ..... It feels good that things r changing for good

India - our land is full now we need more land for new airports... China and Pakistan - left the chat
  • Some of the rules like there will be no airport will be allowed in and around 150Km of existing airport are grid locks
  • I hope that Tata group airline business becomes larger than Emirates, Etihad, American Airlines, Delta combined.

Why is Delhi so strict with granting licenses to foreign providers? The last time we did it, we were enslaved and colonized for 200 years. We have learnt our lesson.
  • I hope we can pay attention to scale up and streamline our airport infrastructure to accommodate the demand first. Irrespective of the carriers being international or Indian, it's critical that we scale up airport infra according to the amount of passengers. The waiting time now is horrendous. You sometimes have to check in so damn early that now you have to wait longer than the time you actually take to fly...An obvious predictable consecuence when you have all but one international airports in the country run by the same enterprise who has no prior experience in running an airport.
