. I'm surprised this person didn't drag this out more by showing the process of purchasing the bulb and waiting for it to come in the mail. Here's something for people actually looking for a great use of these bulbs; incandescent bulbs in place of fuses can be used as indicators of shorts, and is common in telecommunications, and they can also be used to supply power to circuits with shorts while troubleshooting.
  • The bulb will last a long time if you remove finger prints with alcohol before you turn it on.

NATO professor????? ISS professor?????? WHAT are you talking about?? Neither NATO or the ISS are learning institutions.
  • @drlegendre
I'm sure that NATO has several professors who consult for them. But this aside, there's no such person as a "NATO Professor". NATO is a treaty organization, not an educational institution.

В НАТО стали присваиаать звания "профессор"!?
  • Если в доме горит хотя бы одна лампочка, то это уже хорошо. Чем бы не заниматься, главное - руки заняты.

I didn't know NATO actually had professors I thought it was a military alliance, not a university.
  • It is called using a hot air heat gun no need to worry about what "NATO Professors" ( Of what? do or don't know ). Also, the guy making the video knows nothing about not touching the glass of QH lamps as the grease in his fingers causes them to have a shortened life and should be cleaned with alcohol-based solvent before applying current. please inform the "professor" for me! As a mere Electrical engineer.

    He used a Light bulb and connected it to a Battery and made a . . . . . . . . . . . . . Flashlight ! Somebody better tell the NATO Professor !

😂 это какой то, песец, поломать хороший конденсатор, чтобы сделать прожектор, у вас что? нет алюминиевого листа?😂

NATO professor my arse. They would commission the manufacturing facility to use focussed infrared light - a decades old technique that you've just discovered, albeit, in a really rather crude and unfocussed way where other components are also unintentionally subjected to heat. If you ever get so far as to consult a component datasheet, you'll find the manufacturer temperature profile of heat over time for each component (it's an integrating area under the curve thing) and you'll soon discover that you're probably exceeding the rated profiles. By the way, we can overlook your use of the incorrect crimpers on those terminals but handling the crystal glass of the halogen with your greasy fingers and not wiping it clean with isopropyl alcohol before energising it was just downright dumbness.
  • Ну во первых, галагеновую лампу трогать голыми руками нельзя, ибо жир на руках непременно повлияет на срок службы лампы. Она просто перегарит. Во вторых, способ стар как мир.
