In this video I shod a horse I've been doing many years and is getting a little older in age and needs a little more help with her breakover, so I modified some shoes to help her.

  • Anyone else notice the red Kong dog toy used to cushion the hoof on his well, “hoof holder” 😂 Clever!
  • I have to say, I think I like your videos best because you talk. You tell us what you doing and we learn. Not that I’m ever going to be a farrier in this lifetime but it’s interesting to know why you do what you do so thank you for telling us. You seem to be very meticulous and I appreciate that. Yeah, your anvil was rusty, but it still does it’s job! LOL

You are very professional and very knowledgeable and well seasoned doing your job. Thank you for explaining why you do special jobs for horses hoofs. Aloha!
  • Your anvil looks like it got 'put away wet then rode hard'... (I'm fairly certain it's the humidity in the air condensing on the anvil - not that you've 'abused' it in anyway). Love to see antique tools being preserved and still in use today. They were made to last forever unlike the bandsaws or jigsaws used to cut pads today! Ellie would be a great horse to see in action, before and after in slow mo. I'm certain you've really contributed to making her days ahead a lot more comfortable with that rollover you forged into her shoes.

I was going to say, doesn't it make sense to pack the cavity in the hoof and not guesstimate on the cushion...thought the world was going mad.
