Very cool gun wall! My late father was a gun collector...mainly WWI Vintage Springfields. His rifles had been stored away for decades when they were discovered, and he won many trophies at large gun show's for his collection and display case ( which he made! )He sold the collection at an auction, and the proceeds were to make sure my mother wouldn't have to worry about her finances after he passed ( his injury in the Korean War was the cause of his passing at 80 years old. ). The only things I wanted from his collection were his two shotguns he won in a skeet and trap regional tournament when I was a child, and his late 1800's double barrel shotgun! I donated his trophy shotguns to a museum, where they will be displayed, and my father's name is on a plaque with the shotguns. It was the best way I could honor my father. The other shotgun is my home defense weapon! It still shoots too! Before my injury, I had planned on doing some rabbit hunting at a farm that grows organic veggies. But my back injury has me on the mend right now! I am happy to see the two of you are carrying the torch of being a gun collector!

I hate to see you destroy pricey items, because you won’t invest a little time to learn how to pick locks and open safes.
  • Happy to hear you're going to return the paperwork to the rightful owner. Those military papers are important to them.

First, get that quilt appraised -- it might be worth $100 - $200. Second, thought you'd appreciate this observation I found on Quora in the “Guns and Self-Defense” section: You may have heard on the news about a Southern California man who was put under 72-hour psychiatric observation when it was found he owned 100 guns and allegedly had 100,000 rounds of ammunition stored in his home. The house also featured a secret escape tunnel. By Southern California standards, someone owning 100,000 rounds is considered "mentally unstable". BUT… In Michigan, he’d be called “the last white guy still living in Detroit.” In Arizona, he’d be called "an avid gun collector. In Arkansas, he’d be called “a novice gun collector.” In Utah, he’d be called “moderately well prepared,” but they’d probably reserve judgment until they made sure that he had a corresponding quantity of stored food. In Kansas, he’d be “A guy down the road you would want to have for a friend.” In Montana, he’d be called “The neighborhood ‘Go-To’ guy.” In Idaho, he’d be called “a likely gubernatorial candidate.” In Georgia, he’d be called “an eligible bachelor.” In North Carolina, Virginia, WV, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina and Minnesota he would be called “a deer hunting buddy.” AND,OF COURSE, In Florida , he’d just be “a guy who’s a little short on Ammo.”:
  • I just can't resist gun safes!!! About time one had some firepower inside! This was a FUN storage unit!

Him saying "let me in" is how he begs women.

Hope he didn’t die in combat. His family should have those items.😢

Love the gun wall. You have a lot of impressive firearms. The only concern I can see if if someone breaks in they will have easy access. I would advise keeping them in a good safe.
  • If you haven't looked it up yet, That big blade you found in the toolbox is called a woodsman's pal. It's a combo machete, hammer and pruner/ limb lopper. They're pretty cool little tools for backpacking/ survival if you don't want to carry multiple items.

Nice gun wall, Jeebus! If I learned anything from buying arcade games, it's that a standard cabinet lock can be picked pretty easily with a fingernail file on a standard fingernail clipper. Just slide the hooked side in on the side with the pins, and jiggle and twist. Eventually the lock will turn.
  • One thing most people don't realize is with the company Firesafe like the one you found, they have a small amount of different keys. My mom had one like that you found. I had a smaller one. She also had one like mine. My key works her bigger safe . Not the one like I have. You might want to keep any of these kinds of keys to try instead of breaking them open all the time. Remember if you can open it with a key. You can sell it with a replacement key and make more money than you do breaking into them

you do know that you can drill out the gun safe lock with a good bit a slow drill and a little oil, the locks are dirt cheap and you could resell the undamaged safe
  • I so love that you give back personal stuff... I lost a storage unit years ago and oh I wish they were as kind as the 2 of you are 😊
  • @louielou2012
